Christmas B. Cummings Gallery first annual exhibit.

It was odd: Vern didn't rake the front lawn.

Dawn thanked me for doing so, but I couldn't claim the deed.

She certainly didn't do it, either.

Elves? Nah. Fairies? Not enough dust in the house to call 'em in.

Must be a neighbor.

It really looks like his handiwork, but he left two piles sitting on the lawn. The nerve of some folks, huh?

Probably forgot the order, but some favored memories heading out on Merced
Falls Rd. Snelling?, Greeley Hill?, Towards Coulterville. Getting onto a road worth rolling your window down for. Maybe a few hours of 99N makes the hills that much nicer. It must have been something looking north from Merced, when those motels were being built.

Edit: glad that neighbors gotta neighbor. I always wondered about the value of some of those porches on the proverbial tree lined streets around Smelling. Especially on the summer evenings when it finally cools off enough to get up and do something, but the air and the light makes those thoughts a bit unhelpful.

Jim,

The view north from my backyard fence in '61, just prior to the expansion in that direction, was special. Early in the morning, before getting up for school, I would lie in my top bunk for a few, waiting to use the bathroom, and gaze out to the mountains and fields when it was clear.

The fields were mushroom-filled, the creek filled with crayfishes, and doves took wing while the Sierran foothills rose in the distance. It wasn't possible to see the peaks, unfortunately.

Cattle grazed, fertilizing the 'shrooms, peeing in the creek, and I even saw a coyote once, never again, though. Mike, my older bro, shot doves out back with .22 birdshot. He'd take them right out of the sky, he was that good.

Jim, the Road Worth Taking to Yosemite Valley is not 140, but the route as you've said:

You drive on Snelling Road (G St.) out to Snelling and Merced Falls, then north around Lake McClure. From Coulterville, drive up the Greeley Hill Road to Greeley Hill and keep on to Smith Station Road, which leads to the 120 from Groveland.

Facebook has dropped from No. 1 to 7 on Glassdoor's Best Places to Work list for 2019 after a year of scandals.

The company's employee satisfaction rating has steadily fallen over the course of the year, down from a 4.6 to 4.3.

Google also fell in the ranking. Amazon did not make the list.

Roads Worth Traveling

The one you're on is likely the right one;
the one you are seeking is likely the right one, too.
How is it that they are one and the same?

The journey is the destination, some say.
I've always been where it is in my own best interest to be,
if that's the case.
The signposts are not clear, nor are they meant to be.

The GPS (God's Progress System) is simple to operate,
but requires faith in ancient technology.
Point yourself in the direction you wish to travel,
say a little prayer, and proceed.
Those who lack faith, well, I'll pick you up as I drive by,
even if you look a bit travel-worn.
We are all heading in the same direction, after all.

Before any further
fun or entertaining spew
I am most touched
And thank you for adding one more post to the farewell to the most disgusting & so only a '1 termer' president.
though it is sad - clearly, Bushes have termites.
Those are the parasites that eat away the fabric of the nation. Starting at the end of WWII - if I have this right?
Starting with grabbing and then exonerating the last of the hierarchy of the 3rd Reich, including the money men & the much more well-known, often forgiven, rocket men.

I did not want to extend that GHWBastard thread to 81 posts, but that it would end in a non-American trying to continue the forgiveness did not sit well so
thanx for chiming in.

It is as if some of us lived through a different history.
I am sorry for the polarization of our society. As I see it; it is that this gulf between the entitled and all the rest of the growing hoard is the result of this fanciful view of the 20th century where our country is seen as all-knowing & all good & not for all the bad & negative things we did to control the emerging freedom that has to be spread across the globe, but that now is on a presidential hiatus

Suck it up, matey,
and do not go with their flow (flew)
is what we should do.

They flew over their cuckoo's nest,
telling us that it's for the best,
then they left their spawn in our nation's nest.

Simply expressing disapproval of our POTUS is not a bannable act.

There be lines, but I don't come CLOSE to crossing them.

It would be out of character for a mouse.

Might be different if DT wasn't so inept at communicating.

And his closed mind is just that: impenetrable.

No way to run a country, no way to impress the rest of the world.

Working on a novel/screenplay idea currently:

Laurie and I went on an unusual "date" Monday, only because she'd rented a car to drive to Monterey over the weekend for a celebration of life.

She took me and my laundry baskets to Launderland, bringing her own as well. Needless to point out to even the most casual observer, it's not much fun riding a bus with laundry.

So, we washed and talked and dried and talked and folded. While we folded, we didn't say much to each other, because I was by then in conversation with my artist friend, Rafael, who was there doing laundry with his mom, who only speaks Spanish but is a much better artist, according to Rafael.

He spoke of his experience in Yosemite with the Interior Dept, NPS. He was 19 and found himself living in a converted restroom at Crane Flat, finding out what it is like to live ALONE IN NATURE, as he had no roommate, no friends, and no idea what he'd gotten into until it was too late. He lasted a month. He was happy he went. I was very glad to hear his story. He's a gentle, honest soul.

I wish I'd been able to communicate with Mama Rafael.

Once we had our laundry loaded into the car (a Chevy Versa, pretty nice grocery-getter), we adjourned to Paul's for coffee and waffles for her, and coffee and a bowl of chili for moi.

It's almost an everyday thing to speak on the phone with Laurie, here lately. I'm feeling blessed.
