Portlandia.

zBrown has shown me the light. Danke.

When it comes to satire, irony is militant, improvement is imminent, and my name is Jackie Chiles.

I suppose there's more of sarcasm in this clip, than satire. You may think otherwise. Good for you.

Or it's Mr. King-of-the-View, the Big O, my favorite because of Dillis Millis, naturally.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h3vRJmdQv10
His views are/were the best-delivered and in-yer-face, mock-yer-socks-off, and liveliest, of all lefty pundits, much of the time. He knows satire.

that's just my opinion

By way of early condolence. R.I.P.

"Ninety percent of what they call art is sh#t. Ninety percent of the rest is sh#t with an asterisk."

"Ninety-nine percent of what they post on Superuptop is drivel. Half the rest is drivel with an terrible stink."

I suppose a high percentage of my poetry exists in the same state. I know, I'm too modest. BS should be my midnitials.

Exist in a nice place today.

It used to be one of my responsibilites to consider disaster recovery (for computer systems). So typically one does scenario analysis.

Here's one for ya. What if 90% of all sheeit was art? Would my sewer charge drop? Would Mr. Buchwald be offended? If he was, would he write a column about it? Would Buscemi receive a payment rather than having to make one?

These are all scenarios to be considered, or alternatively not.

hey there say, zbrown... SEWER??? did someone say SEWER?
...would my sewer charge drop...
(as if i didn't know)

well now:

Spaulding: What do you fellas get an hour?
Ravelli: For playing, we get-a ten dollars an hour.

Spaulding: I see. What do you get for not playing?
Ravelli: Twelve dollars an hour.

Spaulding: Well, clip me off a piece of that.
Ravelli: Now for rehearsing, we make special rate. That's-a fifteen dollars an hour...That's-a for rehearsing.

Spaulding: And what do you get for not rehearsing?
Ravelli: You couldn't afford it. You see, if we don't rehearse, we a-don't play, and if we don't play (he snaps his finger) - that runs into money.

Spaulding: How much would you want to run into an open manhole?
Ravelli: Just-a the cover charge! Ha, ha, ha.

Spaulding: Well, drop in some time.
Ravelli: Sewer.

Spaulding: Well, we cleaned that up pretty well

i like good clean fun, ;)
and it sure got cleaned up, ;)

just saw this last night... :)

Sewer? Thread? Paint? Birds?

I just found out that Coffee Bandits has a monthly BAD FICTION NIGHT!

I have an affliction: an affinity for bad fiction. I'd say I'm hooked on it, but there's nothing funny about addicttion, even when it has two t's.
Please don't be cross with me.

An addiction is worse than a penchant, by far.

Penchant, now there's one for Punch.

It's made for Mad.

But not the type for Time.

Two doppio day.

Four espressos.

The Farmers' Market was fun. Lots and lots of pictures to look thru.

The Youth Baseball Annual Spring Parade was at 10:30 on Main St. That was almost Too Cute. Many more pictures to look thru.

And then to the Coffee Bandits, taking photos of Volunteers for I Love Merced Day, cleaning up the city. Even more to look thru.

But there are other things to do first.

hey there say, mouse...

wow, if you get a picture of a sewer (manhole-cover), with a bit of chipped paint, and some discarded thread dropped upon it, with birds standing there, studying that ol' thread,

i think you'll tie this all in quite well... :)

*wow, thanks for the 'i love merced' info and all,
it sounds very nice...

god bless, to you this eve, and of course, always,
but the eve, first, as it is now upon this

Rock Under Chopin

Does Anybody Know the “Beatles?”
Does Anybody Care that they are half “Dead?”

If Chopin rode a chopper
And Napoleon took a nap
We’d have soothing rock n’ roll
And a greatly different map

If Harding free-climbed harder
And Ed did more hard aid
Our guidebook still would not be done
Perhaps he should be paid

Lowered Expectation

If everyone throughout history
who ever wanted to be someone
but became somebody else instead
were lined neatly toe to head,

I don’t know what would happen.
Would they reach around the moon?
Could someone or somebody tell me then,
if they do it anytime soon?

say neebee, hey there

wow, if you get a picture of a sewer (manhole-cover), with a bit of chipped paint, and some discarded thread dropped upon it, with birds standing there, studying that ol' thread,

These birds have flown, except for one, but perhaps they could be rounded back up.

Does one round up birds, or just tempt them into place? I know we tempt the humming birds with a red and yellow feeder.

Leaving aside for the moment Frank, Nancy, Frank Jr., it appears that the best rhyme for Sinatra is Sumatra.

This rather statuesque fellow resides there in Bukit Lawang.

If I could pronounce it, then I bet I could come up with some interesting rhymes.

Be that as it may, for the sake of perspective or perhaps sneeking another peek through those infamous doors of perception:

The Great Sumatran fault runs the entire length of the island along its west coast. On 26 December 2004, the western coast and islands of Sumatra, particularly Aceh province, were struck by a tsunami following an Indian Ocean earthquake. More than 170,000 Indonesians were killed, primarily in Aceh.

In any event to get back on track, Nancy and Frank are not common names in Sumatra. Where Martino Antonio & Natalie Della came up with those names remains a mystery (to those who think about such things).

He's giving the F-I-S-H cheer in Sumatran Alphabetic Body Language.
Gimme an F!

This is me wondering what can possibly go wrong.
Gimme an I!

This is Sentinel, without sentiment.
Gimme and S!

Looking down on another valley from a much HIGHER spot.
Gimme an H!

What's that spell?

Bukit lawang! It looks like "fish," though. It's silly, but the language was created by an Irishman who came to live in Sumatra. He was afraid of tarantulas, BTW.

Somewhere in West Sumatra.

So Ron, STFA from W. Sumatra. I plan on it. I'd rather drink it than go there.

I now felt I had really become a mountain climber. The east face of Mount Whitney was what all my early reading had prepared me for: a real wall in the high mountains. When I started climbing I had, in my mind’s eye, targeted mountains. I had progressed from Stoney Point to Tahquitz, then Yosemite, and now the Palisades and Whitney. From here, I thought it would be just another step to the Alps, the Andes, and the Himalayas: the big peaks. But those mountains were very far away, and I didn’t know how to reach them. I knew it took a lot of money, and I didn’t have any. But I had a thumb, and one of the world's best climbing areas was only a few hours away.--Royal Robbins, Fail Falling

to the SCSeagoat--
I hope you enjoyed the short visit you had in Yosemite. Thanks for your support for our eclecticism and obscurity here. Middle Earthlings are just this way, in large part. Right, zBrown?

I had hoped I could say that you ain't seen nothin' yet, but the more I learn of you, in various threads, I am not so sure of that at all!

I have plans for the morrow.
What could possibly go wrong?

To Billyboots--

I just found this photo on a photo search for Jerry Coe. I don't know a thing, just that he's not around these parts. I've looked. The mysterious Fresnan J. Coe, formerly a RCS guy.
Worked for the State Conservation Corps.
Lived in Murphys, CA.
Kept bees.
Licked his honey.
Married to Renee.
Divorced from Renee.
Possible removal to Tierra del Fuego?
Dream of crossing the Andes and kayaking to the sea.
Ah, these chickie-babies...
