Eugene Joseph Wright (born May 29, 1923), nicknamed The Senator, is an American jazz bassist, best known for his work as a member of The Dave Brubeck Quartet,
in particular on the group's most famous album, Time Out (1959), with pianist Brubeck, drummer Joe Morello and alto saxophonist Paul Desmond.

Very enjoyable M. My thanks.

The re-write:

It is only roughly three thousand feet
but a sleepless night can make or break the feat

Errant Night

Why fight it

across the room, a tent floor

An errant thought escaped

The old what ifs come swirling in
the fear of fight then flight

A what then if the pro don't hold
Ah it is the old doubt -

not relevant to this ascent

what then, it fell to a belay
there won't be one this time

now
Those ifs and buts start to grow,
giving texture to the feelings
An essence of the pit that fear can relegate
even a climbing fool to.

It can't be stopped
It can't be suppressed
it mustn't be held in contempt

there might be something to it
After all a fall would mean the end
Can anything be made out
Is this a warning to bug out

A crawling sense of dread
is growing somewhere

Down deep, It can't be stopped
It can't be suppressed
it musn't be held in contempt
there might be something to it
It can't be stopped
It can't be suppressed
it has been tried to no avail
leading that time to a bail

The doubts are not unfounded
We do not play inside
not on the hardwood floor
This aint basketball

Rocks of size -or not- breed doubts
Doubts about choices

Life's choices

Decisions turn the nut
good or bad
going up
continuing
it is one of those actions
you cannot reverse

Doubts like children
ones own they start to grow up

Fast they take on a life of their own

They start to glow, flashing behind closed eyes
The Light keeps the climber up
Being light keeps a climber up
An errant thought has grown , it is only 2 am
Prone at eleven, was there any sleep

Surely no rem, but some drowsy shut-eye
At two am to start to climb, arriving then,
Disturbing they and them that are mid climb
already ensconced in the rock crannies

those them that too have been fighting doubts
that have been also trying
while ascending to find sleep
in that
Elusive Errant Night

this was 1st**
it might go or stay I,ve tripped it over where

Back at the office I called the management company that ran the [ ] apartments
where [ ] had his love nest, and told the secretary I was with [ ]. She said
there was no one named [ ] in the building, nor anyone named [ ]. Apartment B2 was rented to [ ]. Checks were from his own account.

I looked at the big picture of Big Liz on my file cabinet.

She listened patiently, as she always does.

"So [ ] knew about the love nest, and he knew about something else that had to
do with money which he'd spoken to [ ] about, and maybe [ ]."

And [ ] was missing, likely dead, and so was [ ]. Had he mentioned the
money thing to [ ]? Probably, maybe, but it didn't sound like it to me.

Why not? Because he wanted to be president and would need deniability if some
sort of money scandal emerged.

"So why was [ ] having S and M followed?" I said to Big Liz's picture.

Her picture didn't seem to know, either.

She would loved to have grabbed [ ] by his tiny package and squeezed real
hard, though, I could tell.

"I'm so thankful you didn't have to squirm and sweat through eight years of
Bushisms, sweetie."

Hubba hubba toil and trubba,
Tubba's still POTUS.

And Bubba's just a bad dream.

Marlow, thanks for the jazz. thanks to europe for treating some great americans like humans. my respect for Brubeck increased exponentially when i learned he started one of the first inter-racial military groups while serving in WWII.

I saw Berkeley Fishes in an old Fillmore show.

Too restless to sleep.
I was kicked back (he said dreamily) and began thinking in spire thoughts.

My racing mind moved past the obvious--Totem Pole, Spider Rock, the Finger of Fate, the LA, all the semi-spires like Lembert and his bitchy sister Halva Dome (her given name is Tis-a-ack but Halva's her stage name), and I thought of my finger, then my thumb that has gone missing, and then (weird is as weird thinks or does) James Ramsey Ullman and The White Tower.[Click to View YouTube Video]

This would be for Lollie on Do a Grouch a Favor Day, which is today, Friday, February 16.

This gives me hope that during Facelift I can find someone to fit the stilleto heels and we can go play cinematographers in the talus up behind Camp 4, or better yet, below Sentinel Falls.

Loki loves Lollie. Loki lo-o-oves Lollie. Nyah-nyah, n-nyah-nyah!

"Roll over Loki! Roll over, boy."--Lollie and Loki in bed

Woo-hoo!

This comes to us courtesy of Basketmaker II, who may or may not reside in Chula Vista, since I'd have to call him/her more of a low-tech guru.

I normally straighten my dart shafts with fire, i.e. dry heat-but recently I've been doing a lot of experiments with axe hafting, and that necessitated the use of wet heat. Getting tired of just propping my sticks over a pot of boiling water and covering them with aluminum foil (And having sticks stickign every which way in my kitchen) I got a big electric skillet at the thrift store. I drilled a hole in each end of the lid with a hole saw, and now I have a steam box, through which a stick/dart shaft can be fed. It steams a fairly wide area, but boy howdy it works well, and fast, and keeps my kitchen a touch more orderly.

Just trying to get it straight you know?

Those are the last posts that I can review.
Funny too,
because I think my 1st post to the thread was just about to show up. I fell bad around the end of Feb. -but didn't immediately start posting*

(& not 1st to the Flames thread when I did. I have gone back from my 1st post, now this parenthetical is a 3am, edit)

When I went to hit the prompt to go to "next" it flips to the page for a second,
then I get a full screen warning I've never seen

ZB, how is your search for code going?

I was looking for My 1st Flames post,
can you point me in the right direction?

What "H" double hockey stick is that warning? I have also noticed
that I have another in red script warning that the whole site is
"Not secure"
WTF?

ok I also see that it is clear
that It is me.
I dont reach this conclusion easily
but
it scares me that just as all things climbing guide start popping my fun escape has become to dangerous to skate.
back to look at that scary red page but I'm out now for the night.

* As may you all remember,
(haha, right there is one - I'll leave it)
At 1st I was clearly on (or off on) meds
So I did not come across as right in the head.
have I gotten any better?
thanx for the tolerance and companionship
