I plan to leave Friday morning, hope to see Gene in Modesto sometime Saturday morning, meet jstan in Merced early Saturday afternoon, and proceed to the Valley, with a short stop in Mariposa. So we should be at Camp 4 and set up in time to welcome Lynne and team.

I'm looking forward to some fresh air, hard work, seeing new and old friends (can we have name tags this year? - I get confused), having fun, doing a bit of climbing, and so on. I have two weeks off, and am staying in the Valley for the week following the FaceLift.

Plus I hope to listen to the wind in the trees, the babbling brooks, and other pleasant sounds.

I want to make sure that everyone that has requested camping has received a confirmation of their campground, site number and days reserved. It has been especially challenging this year because of the number of sites available and the last minute changes due to Tamarack Flat Campground being torched by the fire. I am glad that I don't work for NPS campground reservations year round, I would go crazy. My hat is off to them.

If you haven't received a confirmation or have yet requested free camping please email me with your needs through Supertopo or through the contact button on the YCA website. http://www.yosemiteclimbing.org/

Thanks,

Ken

I was on the fence until today,

Went for a post hernia/surgery check up today (surgery was on 9/1)

Doc says to lay low for two more weeks, bummer

So I figure if I head up to Facelift it might not be in my best interest,

When have I used any common sense?

F10,

Total waste of life missing FaceLift in my humble opinion. Being in the medical profession I do understand your recovery time.

Dude, you do not have to volunteer for the epic trash journey which includes pulling wires and posts and all manner of shee.

Just hang out with the crew we had last year including Ekat, Happi, Bugsy, me and several others....or whoever yo want to hang with. We strolled along beautiful forested meadows and rock formations with these trash clipper...picker uppers so you did not even have to bend over. We did it for half a day or more if so motivated. As much exertion as drinking a cup of tea heavy on the sugar. :}

Think of the calm, the sweet scented air, the comraderie.....Dude think of The Valley of Wow. Hang at Sentinel Beach to recover from the "grueling" work.

Really ..... you CRAZY to miss this. The ONLY WURD I have for you....on Sunday night they have a live band and dancing. Dr. Lynnie says you are on dance restriction with your recuperative hernia repair unless yo get a note from your real Dr. ..:DDD lynnie

F10, come. Just hang low, you have a legit excuse.

It'd be cool to meet you and we don't have nearly enough people to drink all the beer and eat all the Meat Fest goods.

Seriously, dude, come up and take it easy. Ain't hard to do in the Valley!

F10, there are a few 'desk jobs', both at the sign-up tables (especially in the mornings), and at the evening socials. There may be relatively unstrenuous things to do.

F10, if you start to cave post or email. I almost cancelled my trip last year to both Facelift and The Nose Reunion. I didn't and they turned out to be the best events evah. The people, the place, the time, my life was so enriched by the events.....and to think I almost caved ....
