Truman never went to college.

It will take awhile for all this to shake out and give the public some time to evaluate and respond via the polls. However, it certainly got everyone agitated and thinking, one hell of a lot more than Biden's appointment.

Like I said earlier, I am pretty new to analyzing national politics.

Can someone tell me how many VP's or POTUS publically pursued Creationism to be taught in public schools?

I am a person of faith, but I can not remember that position being taken at such a high level of government.

Tan, it's a non-issue. She may support it, but she can't make it happen. Even a pres would have a problem getting that passed.

Blue, you're mistaking the libs going crazy as being worried...it's more like watching a train crash. We can't keep from looking and commenting on it.

Tan, I do not know for a fact that any VP pick other than McCain's pick advocated Creationism being taught in public schools. However, it is well know that both Ronald Reagon and George W. Bush wanted it taught side by side with evolution.
So, it is significant to be very concerned about a president or vice president who professes such beliefs. Why be concerned?
Well because, for example, such types can easily let their personal beliefs in a gods influence effect their own presidential decisions. Witness the fact that W Bush stated that he talked personally to God, who told him to go ahead and invade Iraq. This came to light when W was asked if he had consulted his own father, Bush the elder who had actually invaded Iraq 10 years earlier. W replied that no he had not consulted his father because he had consulted a "higher father".
So, be afraid, be very afraid, of those who will who in effect deny the science of evolution by wanting creationism taught side by side, for they cannot separate church from state, and thus are subject to making very stupid decisions.

Pretty sure J. Danforth Quayle was a creationalist. A fundamentalist Christian of some kind, anyway, at least in public. Whether he wanted to teach creationism in school is another matter - nobody paid much attention to him anyway.

She is an absolute winner and your man is in serious trouble now. This move is absolutely brilliant.

You say that because YOU are not a woman so you can't truly understand how women think.

The fact that women like you still talk about Obama having some kind of obligation to pick a woman as the running mate is hilarious! I don't need to know how women think to assume all women are not as clueless as you are.

Wow, is she sexy. I love 40ish Women.

Very, Perot...

I just had to skip to the end after reading a number of LEB posts.

Lois, you are totally off your rocker.

Especially after the disaster of Cheney as VP, NOBODY is going to want to take a risk on that woman being a heartbeat from the big job.

She's a HOCKEY MOM, said so herself.

You really want a hockey mom running the country?

I figure this was a time when the repugs KNOW they are going to lose, so they threw a bone to the notion of, "hey, we're with it, we had a woman VP candidate", knowing that it will never come to pass, so no problem.

And you really think being female tops the pro-life/ choice issue?

God I really do hope the rest of the country is not as stupid as you are Lois. And I mean that. YOu really are an idiot politically.

I'll bet you never did look at The Dark Side, did you? And I bet you never will pay attention to anything that points out the bad side of your party.

Liis the fact is that the republicans don't help people like you, but they fool you into thinking they will.. Been doing it that was for 30 years.

You are a SAP.

Took a meclizine, no longer dizzy....(not mescaline.)

My serious question.... I have never been a women's libber...NOW is my least favorite group. Just a regular person living life. But I have served in minor politics and held a corporate job. I am not paranoid and I love life. But I think men critique women on a different level than their fellow guys.

When I was on the SD Planning Commission we had an attorney who was a republican acting as chairman of the commission. He did not know I was a green elephant. (In land use decisions I sided with the demos on the commission. Why ? These people took care of the land but were fair to developers and propery owners also.)

Anyway, this ......clear my throat..."gentleman" would recognize each of us when we wanted to talk by saying ..."Commissioner Wright, Commissioner Davis .....you get my take.....when he came to me the sole female he would say ..."yes Lynne" what a put down...but I had alot of people that respected me and he learned it eventually.

POINT BEING: If this VP candidate gal was a man with her back ground would you all be treating him the same way you are analyzing and speaking about her....not, I think.

Just a little food for thought. Geez I need to go out to dinner....Linnie

LEB, you said in an earlier post:
" Moreoever, I am not a "feminist."

Feminism is generally defined as: "the theory of the political, economic, and social equality of the sexes"

Is it the political (being able to vote)
Economic (equal pay for equal work)
or Social (equal status under the law)
equality that you feel the government should deny?
