the guy towed me up sentinel falls in 1980, talk me how to drink to puke to bleed to drink. did el cap with him as well as astroman. surfed many a merced wave with billy, and always remarked on his capacity to drink nothing but beer on the river. ss

No climb is ever too small or menial For Billy. Last summer, my daughters got the royal treatment on their first ever "real" rock climb. What a blast for them. They'll never forget it.
Our approach
As much time as is necessary to get familiar with the gear, etc.
Remember that first rappel?

Bill's route Bad Seed is a FANTASTIC route on El Cap! It is almost a classic. His original anchor bolts are still good, and I definitely recommend the line. Maybe it could achieve classic status were more people to climb it. It has a few spicy bits for sure, however.
Kait and Ammon climbed it recently, and Kait put up an excellent trip report that you can find somewhere here from McTopo.

There is the "day time Bill" and the "night time Bill" The nighttime Bill likes to validate his existence by slandering and criticizing others, (watched him do it a few times) judging them thru the bottom of a bottle. Maybe if he was strong enough to turn that microscope on himself he would not have to kill his pain with alcohol every night.

I've only got a couple of Bill Russell stories -- only knew him in passing -- and both of them involve a soulful guy with a big heart.
