Models,
My family sends positive thoughts and many prayers to you right now. It has been years since I have seen either Faith or Bobby, but I know that with Bobby's strength and Faith's positive energy at his side, along with the rest of his loved ones, he will pull through this. We look forward to the next update. Sending love and prayers from Minnesota.

Hi Bobby,
As I was feeding my 6 month old and watching the sun rise over the mountains this morning, I was once again pulled back to the days of Laramie and Lander. How many camping trips did you insist on rising before the sun because that was the best light for photos? I was amazed then and still am by your focus, devotion and stamina for whatever you sink your heart into. I know that those exact qualities are working for you now. Stay strong!
Love,
Megan

Off all the ways that Bobby could be killed/seriously injured (considering his chosen profession), this has got to be the stupidest.
Thoughts/prayers/healing energy heading his way.

Bobby, Faith, Ann, Jim, and Bob,
Enjoyed a GREAT hike in the Beartooths last week and we all (Char McCue, Kathleen DiVincenzo, Kay Maxwell and myself) shared stories of Bobby and the Model family. We know that Coach Joe Maxwell is with you now. We all continue to hold you in our thoughts and prayers!

Joe,
that's great news that you are able to be there! Sharpen the draw knife, I think a little log peeling may be just the thing to get Bobby back on his feet when he wakes up, hehe..
Give everyone a big hug there and know that very few moments pass between prayers of healing, hope and strength for Bobby and his loving family/friends.

Dear Bobby and family… It wasn’t until we read the Kenny’s message, that we realized we had been doing the same… continually checking Supertopo for news of your progress. We just read Joe Maxwell’s post and it's such a great, positive lift for everyone’s spirits! You ARE going to make it out of this Bobby, and we all know it! This may truly be your toughest climb… just know every one of us wishes we could be there to help pull you up. Can you believe all the love and support you’re getting!? It’s incredible! We love and are praying for you and your whole family, Bobby. Johnny and Pam Feeley

Bobby,
Over the past 15 years, we’ve been together on expeditions to five different continents, waited out countless storms, and faced too many long odds. Of all the desperate and difficult times I’ve seen, this one ranks right at the top. You have kept me safe so many times climbing, and have really saved my life a few, too…I feel so horribly unable to help you.
I have always been impressed with your endurance and your ability to stay motivated day after day, long after others had given up and gone home. It really bugged me that I could train hard all winter while you gallivanted around central Africa looking for giant crocodiles, and you’d leave me in the dust on yet another long Cody ice approach. It bugged me too that you could roll off the couch and still crank 5.12, climbing like you were born to do it, while after 20 years I still climb as if I were wrestling a Beluga whale.
I remember well our trip to Kenno’s home village north of Poi at the end of our climbing trip there. How close you became to the people and how at home you had become in Kenya. It was strange and wonderful to see a Wyoming boy find a purpose higher than himself so far from where he might otherwise belong. I have never seen anyone belong to a place as well as you belong on that continent.
It was no surprise to me, then, when you decided to base out of Nairobi a few years later. Of all my friends, you would be the one that actually lived the “endless wish” we had talked of for so long. I am proud of you.
I have become used to having you there to depend on when the sh#t gets deep. You are a man that can be counted on. There are so many places we still have to go. I am not alone when I say that I need you. I am proud to be your friend.
Steve

JUNE 19TH UPDATE FROM FAITH:
Dear All,
I will write a more detailed email tomorrow, but just want to let everyone
know that Bobby had another scan yesterday and there wasn't a great deal of
new information. He remains stable, but still in a coma. I do want to tell
you, however, that when I read him excerpts from the supertopo forum or
emails received, I really feel that not only is he listening and enjoying,
but that he is so deeply touched by everyone's concern, love and thoughts
and he especially likes the little stories. Please keep your hopes and
prayers high--higher than ever.
I wish there were words that could accurately convey our deepest
appreciation for all the support we're receiving. And I wish we could
respond to each and every message, but as that's not possible at the moment,
please know that we are ever grateful for all of you.
I know Bobby is sending big hugs and lots of love, as are we.
Many many thanks and much love,
Faith

Another classic moment with Bobby Model. Not only is he a star photographer/climber/skier, he makes his presence known in social circles as well.
This is from an old roomate of his from Laramie/Denver.
I like how he snapped into my ski bindings with his cowboy
boots at my Halloween party one year and threw me up on his shoulders
then skied down the stairs without killing both of us! who else has
that kind of strength and balance!
I think that was the same night someone had to tackle him and
wrestle a real sword he had gotten from an african tribe out of his
hands- no small feat - because he had chopped through our bannister
and was swinging the sucker around in a very crowded room - someone
could have lost a limb or something....
We could go on and on and on about Bobby's legendary social skills. One of the most fun guys to celebrate with of all time.
