In the not too distant future Werner,
We'll be able to claw our way right into these pictures!
If that were the deal today, I would join you; but I'm going ski touring right now instead...
Have fun with them cracks!!!

Yeah, WB, have a great time today!
That's not Meatie, WB. Not sure who that is. Kinda resembles Leclinsky (sp?).
For further clarification on the CColonmobile saga. When I first met the Colon, he was concerned about his car probably because it was beginning to rebel against the total lack of care he was giving it. Not to mention how bad it smelled because of his feet, but that's another story.
I asked him if he changed the oil regularly and he said a prof at USC told him it was not necessary to ever have to change the oil in a car. I and a few others around were shocked, of course, and highly recommended that he do so when he got to town next time. Well, Russ and WB provided the rest of the story. CColon actually chastised me for his folly and said if he wouldn't have changed the oil, the engine never would've blown. LOL

Must have been the early 80's. I think Ron was preening up for one of his TV gigs. WBraun in the background prepping for whatever.....
Timson early March, mid 70's. We were the only people living in C4. Pretty grim lifestyle.
Anyone remember Mark Moore? Mid 70's, C4 lot.
Stephanie Atwood, C4 mid 70's.

I just wanted to confirm that OffWhite and Rich Romano are correct: that is me (Steve Amter) in the photo (unknown blond dude). I was either there climbing with Dave Sessions (son of the old guidebook author), Dick Cilley, John Sherman, or my old Gunks partner Andrew Kaplan (who was also at the Gunks reunion). In 1986, I was living in Tucson and making occasional trips to J Tree and Yosemite. Good times.
Offwhite, who are you? Did we climb in Tucson?

My guess: Duane Raleigh with Walt. Looks like my van (or Schultzs') and Too_Tall's rig further back. The timeframe is just about right for the pairing.

That photo of Walt on his bike: It looks more like Dimitri to me. And is that Lydia the pocket Russian in the background? (She was actually from Yugoslavia). Those red pants and bright clothes were her standard.
She's racking for one of those routes on the right side of El Cap...

no john, we all just hunkered down this year. but by about mid-day on thanksgiving the international switchboards lit up as we all started calling one another to gripe about how unnatural is felt to not be in josh for thanksgiving. we all vowed to go next year. this was the fifth time i've missed t-day in josh in the last 34 years. definately going next year, no matter how bad the weather forcast looks...

Woman in the center of Rich Sims pic, looks a lot like Lisa Issacs, who used to be around the scene in the 70's. I stayed with her last week in Mammoth where she is now runs the environmental office of Mammoth Mountain.
