Patrick and Wild Bill, yes it's a long-standing internet hoax...the interview I posted. I just checked it out.

That wasn't really the point though. It was about a great comeback to a typical liberal moron regarding gun safety and gun control.

And Patrick, if you insult somebody don't then patronize them by saying, "Not to be rude or crude". It makes you sound like a pretentious a$$hole.

That said, I'll edit my earlier post to indicate it was a prank interview.

When you think about it, for "Double LOL and a half" to cause a true follower of Jesus to wish death on two fine old Southern Gentlemen such as DMT and myself, looks to me a sure sign of an underdeveloped organism. Another sign is the wimpy handle, AKClimber. At least make it aka Climber.

Nor can we rely on any military entity to do it. Time to get out of Baghdad.

Now I've seen everything! A post by Mr Crowley that's longer than one line.

Cut-and-paste job it was, and completely off-topic, but what the hell, we'll take what we can get.

Mr Crowley,

Rule 3 of safe shooting is "Be sure of your target, and everything behind it".

You are in violation of Rule 3.

"I am sorry about Ron's thread also...seriously."

I agree. You are seriously sorry. But then, what the hell. Glorified Metermaids are probably expected to be whiny and petulant little delusional squeakers.

Bluering, whether you believe me or not is up to you, but I wasn't trying to be crude, though I suppose I could have put it in a better way, such as... "I can see why Bluering would get a kick out of such an interview" or something like that.

On Topic
I am not into guns but not against them either. I am somewhat ambivalent on this issue.

So this headcase had a court order against him: Virginia court order issued at the time declared him "mentally ill" and said he presented "an imminent danger to self or others," ABC News reported.

Yet he found it easy enough to buy two handguns. Go figure. What good are laws if they cannot either be enforced or can be circumvented so easily.

Maybe a little bit back towards the topic.

I think one of the reasons this kind of sh|t happens in the US, is because it’s so easy to find guns. No, the problem isn’t with reasonable, disciplined individuals who have and correctly care for and store guns & ammo. And I believe most are…

But then you get burglaries and whatever (not that this is the case here -- the guns were bought legally), and all of a sudden, you have a massive amount of firearms everywhere. A whacko can easily get his hands on one. And we see what happens. What if the worst thing you could get your hands on was a baseball bat ? Or a knife ?

It’s just not like that in other parts of the world.

A parallel: if we had more and more countries having and piling up weapon’s grade nuclear material, how long do you think it would take for a major catastrophe to happen? How long before some terrorist group stole some and used it?

It boils down to that : when more and more of something is around and quite easily available, you’re upping the odds that it’ll fall into the wrong hands.

As for what would be the net outcome over a given time period if others were also armed on capusses (campii ?), I have no idea.

I have no problems with trained individuals (LEOs, etc) packing guns. This doesn't bug me the least. It's knowing some dimwit with nothing to lose in his life may have one that kills me.

Sh|t like this is unfortunately gonna continue happening. There’s seeds for it in the US.

My thoughts to all those affected by this tragic event.

Right on Dingus! It's all a matter of scale. In 1917 there was only one car in the US for every 30 people and air pollution wasn't a problem. By 1970 there was 1 car for every 2 people and air pollution due to car exhust was a huge problem. The auto industry refused to deal with, or even acknowledge, it so the government stepped in to regulate it. Gun people/manufacturers/shooters take note. Do it yourself or have it done for you. If you continue to deny, in the face of all evidence, that there is a problem, someone else will "fix" it for you.
Mal

PS: I do not advocate outlawing guns but there does need to be some sort of regulation. That would be stupid. In fact, if they were going to be outlawed, the first thing I'd do would be to run out and buy a nice flat-shooting rifle with a big scope, some sort of handgun, and a bunch of ammo.

During the 2-week mandatory waiting period where background checks are made for gun purchases, there could be some changes.

If you've been prescribed anti-depressants of ANY kind within the last year...No guns for you!

If you've been diagnosed with mental issues by a professional within the last year...No guns for you!

I don't think it would be hard to implement these changes into the system and it may have prevented this scenario without denying 'safe' gun owners their right to own firearms.

Any thoughts?

bluering, nice line of thought but that list could go on forever. How about if you've just been dumped by your GF, or if your neighbor is shovelling all his snow onto your sidewalk, or if you've recently been cut off on the freeway or if.....

Wasn't the VT shooter a recent dumpee?

Mal, that's why I indicated a PROFESSIONAL diagnosis of mental issues, which it what happend to the SOB in Virginia. A professional, after making an assesment, would enter you into the database. There's usually quite a bit that has to go wrong too to get to the point of having to see a professional (like in this particular case). The biggy however is the use of anti-depressants. I think the Columbine brats were on anti-depressants too. I'm not sure if their guns were purchased legally though.
