Well, looks like me an' the Missuz are moving to Bishop! I've got one more year in the community college grind, and then we're East Side denizens full time. Lots of realities between here and there, but I think this is gonna happen. Nothing like life on the res. in a little double-wide:

See y'all at the crags.

Never could get a decent cup of coffee there so I guess that sushi is completely out of the question.

Donini,

You must be going to the wrong place for coffee.

I didn't say anything about the about the sushi did I? Nope, I was perfectly happy to let sleeping dogs lie. But since you decided to bring it up, I've been there Thu, Fri, and Sat nights. No matter how much you wanna believe the sushi is great it's not. It's average. I still eat it but I don't pretend it's Nobu. llol

Donini, been in Bishop for 35 years now. Next time you're in town, you know where I live, I'll take you out for sushi - when it's free and 300 miles from the ocean, why complain?

There's at least six Mexican restaurants in Bishop. Two of them are right next door to each other! Neither are my favorite. I'm sticking with the family that started with a taco cart out along Main Street many years ago. Great family, good food, generous portions.

My favorite computer science student at Bishop High Sçhool (I retired in 1998), Aaron Schat, son of Erick (Schat's Bakkery), is reopening the recently closed Whiskey Creek restaurant and I'm looking forward to the revival of the 5 to 6 o'clock discounted dinners at the bar. Haven't verified the revival, but I'll certainly lean on Aaron.

We also have the choice of Thai, Chinese, and Italian (owners aren't Italian - food is good).

So come on out!

Nice shot. Chilly bouldering, tho. Here's one from a hike yesterday:

reopening the recently closed Whiskey Creek restaurant

I'm glad to hear that. It's a nice space. I also loved the Happy Hour discount meals! I hope they revive that policy.

The new owner is Aaron Schat, one of my computer science students from Bishop Union High School way back in the mid 90s. He says he wants to bring back the "old" Whiskey Creek. Let us prey.

He's also the son of Erick Schat owner of the famous Schat's Bakkery in Bishop known for his Sheepherder's Bread.

If he doesn't reinstate the Happy Hour half-priced dinner menu at the bar he will lose me as a regular customer.

Actually I loved Whiskey Creek even more before it expanded to include the attached Copper Kettle as the restaurant and turned the wonderfully intimate old restaurant into just a bar. Those were the good old days ... when Alan Bartlett was a chef and Rob Dellinger was the manager. You could order prime rib using the code word "climber's cut" and get the largest hunk of beef you'd ever seen! Memories!
