I've been a diehard Giants fan since 1960 when my family moved to the the Avenues in SF. I remember after the debacle in Anaheim (effin rally monkey, give me a break) resigning to myself to the fact that I would go to my grave without seeing the Giants win a World Series, hey it's just baseball. That obviously worked out OK, though.
In contrast, I was never much of an American football fan and found it easy to root for the Seahawks against the Niners now that I'm living in Seattle (20+ years now). This pissed off my Bay Area friends royally, and I have to admit that I kind of liked rubbing it in that Marshawn Lynch is from Oakland and went to Cal.
Now, though there is some symmetry: Travis Ishikawa is from Federal Way, a suburb just south of Seattle(aka north of Tacoma).

Royally? Don't go there.
And, here's the clincher for me, "You're not Berkeley enough," too! (he said with a happy face)

This should be an interesting series. The Giants starting rotation doesn't stack up that well against the Royals. Good thing the long ball showed up again last night, they are likely going to need it.
More than anything, the Giants seem to know how to show up when it matters most. Despite not having the complete team (injuries, spotty pitching), they get it done.

Well, I was hoping the Cards would win at least one more, just to make SF work for it, and get a little more frazzled before going against the Wall of Royal...
But it didn't quite work out that way...
Congrats to the Giants on a great NLCS...that last hit was a doooozzzyyy!

Apparently Peavy has such poor eyesight without his contacts that he thought Ishikawa's HR bounced off the wall and was a ground rule double. Peavy damn near tackled Ishikawa trying to round 3rd and head for home so he would be credited with the HR.

Was listening to the game on the internet and fellow office workers were totally baffled when I started yelling. Baseball is a relatively unknown endeavor here in NZ.
What a great story for Ishikawa. I remember hoping he'd do better the other times he had a shot. Well, I guess he has.
Go G-men!

back and forth games the whole way, lots of drama, good for the fans,
NLCS will probably prove to be better than the series,
expect KC to get blown out of the water,
bottom of the ninth homer to get to the series, nothing better,
WS parade in SF, 2010, cars honking, people screaming from BMW's, homeless guy yelling at the cars>"it's only a game!"
and he is right, but still fun,

Pitching wins ball games. Period.
For that reason alone, I predict the series will go to the Royals. Royals have Home Field advantage via the All Star Game victory. Bumgarner is obviously the G-men's big weapon, but he can pitch (realistically) in no more than 2 starts. Shields only started once in the ALCS and is fresher. This will go at least 6 games, and probably 7.

Home field advantage didn't help the Nats or the Cards. I agree pitching is the key to winning championships but managing is also important. I'll take Bochy and his battle-hardened Gigantes over Yost and his base stealing Royals any day.
Bovada has the Royals as slight betting odds favorites...more reason to favor the Giants.

Darwin's talking about the SEAhawks, folks. And he's right, they are off, and that's a relief.
BUT
There are other dirty birds to keep our eyes on, namely MORE DAMN CARDINALS!
Eyes on the prize, and GO GIANTS!
2012 NL Division Series Cincinnati Won 3-2
NL Championship Series St. Louis Won 4-3
World Series Detroit Won 4-0
2010 NL Division Series Atlanta Won 3-1

I just heard that the People's Republic of San Francisco has banned Lorde's song 'Royals' until after the World Series....
Worried much, Gigantes?
