And Banks & Ward, Im just goofing a bit here so lets all not take this too seriously. Hopefully we can all enjoy some friendly competitiveness, sh#t talking & gambling since we are so nice & internationally set up for it on supertopo. That's what I always thought the true spirit of the Olympics was. Anyone want to bet on women's hockey, or men's curling? Loser has to write a trip report!
Fair enough. Change brings good and bad things with it. But overall I think the evolution of snowboarding and its inclusion in the Olympics has been a positive thing. FWIW, I first tried snowboarding 30+ years ago.
I'll take the US Women's Hockey Team.

Any of you yanks want to wager on Sundays US vs Russia game? I'll take the Rusty's, loser has to post on the selfie thread a selfie with makeup or face paint saying go canada. I'll post one saying go USA if the commies lose, which they won't.

Alexey if that is the finals we end up with you are so on! I fear for you that you may not have this opportunity tho as your Datsyuk apparently has a weeping vagina from being too old & may be unable to carry the rest of team to the medal round. We will have to see what happens Sunday when they play US first :-)

-loser writes a TR with whoever goes furthest in women's hockey, US vs Canada with Banks

Yes there is a big question about that because there is no such thing as "winning the winter Olympics."
I understand what you mean, but that does not make the "winter Olympics" any sort of actual competition that can be won or lost, except unofficially in your mind.
You're free to play your own sport of medal counting (and obviously lots of other people / media outlets like to play it also), but that doesn't change reality. (It seems like a rather shallow and silly game, especially to brag about a country that you are not even from, but whatever floats your boat.)
One nice thing about sports is they have rules--random Internet blowhards are free to say anything, but that doesn't change the actual rules or create a sport that does not officially exist.
I would like there to be some sort of an investigation of Norway's athletes however--it does seem that they have an advantage that my suggest something like PED or the like, I don't know.
The question is what country will be in second place, or as a US company so obnoxiously put it, who will be First Loser? The USA? Sweden? Russia? Germany? Italy? Canada? It must suck for all of them, perpetually losing to a country of five million.
The only that "sucks" that I know about is for ordinary Russians, who will be be burdened with the incredible expense of these "games," where most of the money was allegedly stolen by those with Russian government connections.
As a typical American sports viewer, I think it's kind of "cute" that people who support countries like Norway that you normally never hear anything about in the sports world can do well in some games that no one really watches or cares much about, except for the Olympic spectacle.
It's sort of like a giant special Olympics--you feel kinda good for the "competitors" and can even admire their courage and, in a strange way, their skill. But that doesn't mean you have to respect them as real
athletes (pretty much football, basketball, baseball, maybe MMA fighting, that's about it). Climbing sorta counts too, but not really as an organized sport.
