Dan McD should recognize this pitch on the old Dawn Wall start. The topo calls for a 7 inch piece about 30 feet above me here, but all we had were 4 inch bongs. I had to tunnel inside it, and it was full of Bat Guano. I saw a piece of webbing, pulled it out of the bat turds, and there were two carabiners and a 2 inch bong. One of the carabiners had "RR" stamped all over it. It was there from when Robbins and Lauria did the 2nd (and chopped the start) of the WEML.

Age 17 or 18 in Huasteca Canyon, Mexico, learning how to drill I think. I didn't drill on the route we tried, but I did rip everything to the belay on the 2nd pitch. Upside down and backwards, flying down the wall, pop, pop, pop. Kinda freaked me out.
I got whacked in the arm by falling ice. It blew up all purple and then turned nice shades of yellow and green. Notice the Kryptonics t-shirt. This was when skate boarding was the like wingsuiting is today...
Mescalito, back when it got done twice a year......
