Here's a recent Pew Research poll on American's thoughts about Obama vs Trump

(Of course no Trumpiteer will believe it.)

From the first page of this very thread....

A foundation stone of graciousness is not believing your opponent has "irrational hatred" just because s/he doesn't agree with you.

Now you hypocrites have a "political opponent" in power, and there's nary a HINT of the "graciousness" you expected from others.

Oh, you'll say, "But Trump is HORRENDOUS, nothing like anybody before him, so all bets are off."

But that's just a smokescreen. MANY of us who voted for Obama first-term did not for the second-term. We believed (and still do) that seeing what he turned out to be was HORRENDOUS. The point is that you always think that the latest iteration of your "political opponent" is HORRENDOUS.

But that does not justify your blatant hypocrisy.

The sky is not falling. You'll get another chance, so that you can return to your typical attitude as exemplified by the opening pages of this thread.

For this moment, however, the shoe is on the other foot, and YOU guys are the losers. Buck up and be gracious.

I agree that people need to be gracious losers, but when did you ever say this to the republicans when they were excoriating Obama? And why didn't you? Don't you remember that Trump led the way on Obama's birth certificate? Why is is okay for Republicans to be mean spirited and obstructionists, and not okay for Democrats?

Neither party has a lock on decency.

This is an interesting article that merits attention:
http://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2017/03/scholarly_study_reveals_how_badly_hillary_screwed_up_campaign_advertising.html

I'm only in the beginning right now, but there is an irony that jumps out- Hillary's ads were personal attacks and Donald's were policies? Seems backward from how I think of the candidates, but I never saw any of the ads. If this is true, it reinforces my support of the Bernie approach of being all about policy.

Edit: Is this stuff legit? It is warping my brain because every live interaction I saw between Trump and anyone else, he was all about tearing down the other person, and completely devoid of substance. Maybe the TV ads were different? As I read the article ("For all of the talk of the unusual advertising campaign that Trump ran in 2016, his message strategy was more traditionally policy-focused"), it doesn't fit with what I experienced via Youtube of different rallies and debates.

Nut.. Hillary had some ads that only used Trumps words. So in that sense, they were personal. Powerful, and she never called him anything. She just used his own words.

Every day I shake my head at how crazy the word has gotten.

At least when Republicans were supposed to be gracious there was an intelligent, articulate, well educated man in office, who maintained some professional bearing and behavior.
Now there's a blustering, ignorant bully buffoon in office. F*#k Trump.

Neither party has a lock on decency.

No, but WE weren't the ones strongly advocating "decency" when it was KNOWN that Hillary could not lose.

How about start with decrying the violence in the streets?

How about stop with the "not my president" bit?

NOBODY I know, myself included, were popping off with "not my president" when Obama got a second term. And WE weren't rioting in the streets and calling it justified.

There's a process. It was followed. It will be followed again in the future. The least your side can do is quit rioting and ACCEPT the FACT that Trump is YOUR president as much as Obama was mine.

Hold him accountable? Sure! As best is possible in such a politicized environment.

I don't know anyone who was calling the rioting justified. Protesting.. fine. but rioting no.. so why not get off the high horse? And yes, many liberals were calling for decency. That doesn't mean that all liberals are going to be decent. Nor does it mean that the ones calling for decency are hypocrites simply because some liberals were behaving poorly. Where were the Republicans calling for decency? Where were you? I have called out a number of liberals on this site for their behavior. What have you done about conservatives poor behavior? Where were you when Cragman was laughing at Michelle Obama's "manly" arms? How about when Jody takes glee in liberals being upset? Where is the decency in that.

Get off you high horse Mad. You especially have no place on one. You have a serious problem when lumping people all together. You decry it when liberals do it, such as when they say all conservative are war mongers. Yet you then turn around and do the same kind of thing.

Right back atcha.

And I'm clearly talking about libs on this site.

Show me ONE post where a lib on this site has decried the rioting.

Show me ONE post where a lib on this site has said anything like, "I hate Trump, but he IS my duly-elected president."

Good read, addressing trump's attack on democracy.

Oh, and rioting is bad. There. I've said it before too.

But most protests have been peaceful. I've been to three completely peaceful protests. How many riots have occurred at the multiple congressional town halls? Or at the 4 million strong women's march? Or the day without women?

Your fixation on riots is disingenuous, to say the least. That's what happens when you read breitbart and other trump propaganda.

two can play this game. Show me one post where conservatives said that about Obama.

Good grief. Kids games.

I and many others here decried the rioting. Apogee I know did. So did dirtbag. And many others. If you didn't see it, then you need to check your bias.

Mickey Mouse Reagan and Donald Duck Rafferty. One went on to become President.

Therefore, Mickey Mouse, I challenge you to a duel, to the death, and you can choose the weapons. And if you can’t relate to that, right on. Walk, chicken, with your ass picked clean.

Looks like cleaning house to make sure they have allies among whomever handles Trump investigations when Sessions is also implicated.

Edit: Looks like I went off half-cocked for singling out Trump on this one. It's pretty typical for a new power to get rid of those with prior allegiances and replace them with folks who are grateful to the powers that appointed them. Same for management teams in big companies.

Decency?

Where was Bolter when John McCain was attacked?
Where was he when a Gold Star family was attacked?
Where was he when a federal judge was attacked?

I have posted that I accept Trump as President.

Decency? Trump is about showing that it is not needed.

CNN:

When one reporter asked him about Wikileaks' CIA dump, Trump smiled and did not respond.

So here's a thought: Perhaps Trump directed Wikileaks to disclose this, by way of his good friends, the Russians. As a means of getting even with his enemy, the US intelligence agencies?

Somewhere in Washington D.C. (or nearby) there are gatherings of intelligent men and women from the intelligence agencies, the military, the Justice Department, the EPA, etal and they are discussing this ignoramus and what to do about him. I suspect (for no known reason) that the military has alerted generals to watch Trump's use of the attack codes, as they did with Nixon. This travesty of a mockery of a sham won't continue forever. Or so I hope.
