Talked to Marks wife.
Mark took a couple of falls yesterday on the free climbing.
Rattled him more than a bit I would guess.
Really cold and windy up there. Must have been dry or he would not have started on the pitch.
Hopefully the WARM sun reveals the path.

im sure that it wasn't mark's fault
the silent partner must have
gotten scared and locked up,
pulling mark towards the hawk's feet.
come on silent partner!
you're almost there.
dig into your bearings
and find some lube!
mark, give it a shot of bourbon,
or maybe some of your premium coffee.
oh what a story unfolding!

Pulling for you Mark! I'm guessing it's not so fun right now and based on earlier posts he's short on bolts! Yes, I know it's against his ethics.....

Yes those FAist should have been responsible and grid bolted those pesky slabs. As I recall a tough transition when the overhanging suddenly tilts and the nailing goes to tiptoeing.
Whipper on the slab = scary and ouchy
Probably not easy to self-belay either....
Hang tough!!

Whoa, I was wondering about that "R" pitch at the top. I just thought he had it all dialed cuz he's Hudon.
As soon as I brought this route up a few months ago, my old El Cap partner said "Your pitch.." gulp.

Mark is off.
Pretty worked.
I'm sure he will fill in the details as he can.

Really? Storms, falls, nightmare traverses, solo hauling, pitching off r/x terrain......on the very last day? I call B.S. You can't write this stuff. Nobody was even a bit suspicious this was a troll? Internet access the whole time? Honestly? I'm callin your bluff Mark.
He was probably sitting in room 304 at The Ahwahnee the whole time, typing behind a cup of decaf Sumatra, wearing a crisp white bathrobe and little soft flip flops on his feet. Yall have been had. Back to your political threads people. Nothing to see here.

Proud send Mark. Proud. Gettin' some help at the tippy top in no way diminishes your burly adventure man. Thanks for the stoke and for the ride along. Enjoy some rest and flat soil.

Yes, very proud send. You should be very proud of this fine ascent and all the work you did improving it. The decision making on the last day was right on the money if you ask me.
Well done.
