I think you got that backwards:
isn't it 90% of Alaskans don't think they're a state?
(speaking of stereotypes)

Killing homosexuals has absolutely no affect on the gene pool.
and to quote Utah Phillips.
"Ah'm fr'm Utarrrhr. Wher' the men 're men an' the sheep're all nervous"
Like any slander, there's more than a little truth in it.
Hmm...I wonder.....there was a lot of immigration to Utah from Scandinavia in the 1880's - 1920's

Hehe... you know America has always been a role model for the Scandinavian countries. All that goes on in America today will be going on in the Scandinavian countries in five or ten years. The less idiocy there is in America today, the less idiocy there will be in Scandinavia later. Maybe scandinavians should get a lot more involved in American politics?
Well, now it's time for the Dudesons.

The original settlers on Greenland didn’t last long either."
They lasted for hundreds of years.
No one really knows why they died out, probably a lot of reasons. Certainly possible that they were exterminated by natives who were moving south in an early act of genocide.
(This is from my memory of the excellent book "Collapse" by Jared Diamond.)

Both of those really make me laugh! Those silly Scandinavians. So distrustful of the US and Russia. My Grandma, what big EYES you have, and what big TEETH.
Hmmmm.....now if I could just draw cartoons.

The peanut gallery hopes for more stereotypes!
Of course, if we had the stomach for it we could check out the politard threads - lots of stereotypes there, but not as amusing, and no cute cartoons.

Stereotypes of Americans are embarassing because they're true. I never relaized that until I traveled around the world a couple of times and saw ugly Americans. Yikes!
When the rest of the world talks about "that country" with all of the ignorant religious fanatics, they're not talking about Iran or Iraq -- they're talking about the USA.

Another fine example of stereotyping. Maybe a touch of truth and even humour to it, but typical of the shallowness of much political discourse. Has anyone actually talked with or even surveyed the OWS people and their supporters, to determine who exactly they are?

I knew there was a reason I did so today. I had this strong atavistic feeling.
Especially after two days without electricity. Just like the old days!

Yes, the Vikings - bringing civilization to Europe ever since they visited Lindisfarne in 794 CE.

speaking of stereotypes.
you Vikings learn me something nearly every day:
In England the Viking Age began dramatically on 8 June 793[4] when Vikings destroyed the abbey on Lindisfarne, a centre of learning famous across the continent. Monks were killed in the abbey, thrown into the sea to drown or carried away as slaves along with the church treasures. Never before has such an atrocity been seen,"[citation needed] declared the Northumbrian scholar Alcuin of York. More than any other single event, the attack on Lindisfarne cast a shadow on the perception of the Vikings for the next twelve centuries. Not until the 1890s did scholars outside Scandinavia begin seriously to reassess the achievements of the Vikings, recognizing their artistry, technological skills, and seamanship.[5]f
Until Victoria's reign in Britain, Vikings were portrayed as violent and bloodthirsty. The chronicles of medieval England had always portrayed them as rapacious 'wolves among sheep'. Evidently bathing once a week is no guarantee of being civilized!http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Viking_Age
