Dude, I'll climb with you man! In the desert, that is. I'll be down there around late April/Early May..
Yesterday, I rode to Sandwich on the Saxon Shore way (not recommended) and then back on cycle route 1. Barely made it back before sunset!

appropriately, that link gives me:

But I have some hope of getting at least a day in Flag in a couple of weeks. That seems about right at the moment-- park 30 feet away from Carnivore and pop the cooler.
I'm in the worst aerobic shape I've been in for years.

yeah, i escaped the bataan death march w/o any tendon or cartilage injuries, so i'll climb ok soon enough.
the lungs will take longer. fortunately, it looks like this season there's going to be plenty of time to train down low.

Alright I am crying uncle!! Still dumping, been housebound since Tuesday, except for epic shovel sessions! Power just went out again. I am going to dig out the car one more time and drive down to truckee and hopefully get in a good ski workout at Tahoe Donner. Oh how I am wanting to climb in a warm dry desert right now!

Lead + 3 laps on the Quarter of a Man??? Gravity has less effect on the Jaybro climbing cyborg.
Just got back from there. I need more endurance. I like the Wide, but 40 meters of it? Really?
My plantar fasciitus has returned after an absence of over a decade so I've had to back off a bit on the running. So do I need more support...or less...Those five fingers are ok until you land on something pointy on the trail.
Running is the King of all the exercises. It's elemental, more than an exercise, sort of like climbing is more than a sport.

Peter, make a roadtrip to the lowlands and climb with us @ PGSF tomorrow! You're proabaly Too fit, anyway...
Okie, that was like ten years ago when I was just a wee sprout of an old guy, near the end of a 10 weeks stay, when I had it pretty wired, was climbing a lot, etc...
Did I miss a trip report?
injuries bite, running rules, but has it's drawbacks...

Shovelling snow is quite a workout and demands efficiency as well as endurance so if that is 'all' you did that is PLENTY!!!
Did a back country tour on Mt. Washington today (in NH). Stayed below tree line due to high winds and avy risk. I like to earn my turns and skiing on top of the deadlifts/squats yesterday worked out the kinks in my legs.
Tomorrow - running/biking/Crossfit/bouldering. Does that count as a 'brick' in triathlonspeak?

First day of warm weather and a 6 mile run above the Yuba River. The waterfalls were spectacular, the wild flowers peaking out and the wild and scenic Yuba was flowing with BIG water. A fine morning indeed. Fly the border collie probabally put in 10 miles to my 6.

trained legs today hit 235 x5 front squats
hopefully I'll front squat 315 by the end of the year.
Then did 30 minutes of racquetball.
Jaybro,
My highest max pullups was in the low 30's
I do weighted pullups and chins these days. The heaviest being 90lbs x3 for chins.

A long time ago I used to do heavily weighted pullups, like 70-80 lbs ib for very similar numbers of reps. I'm thinking about starting up again more modestly. I've got a 20 lb weight vest. Maybe i'll see how that feels on my Sr citizen elbows, and take it from there....

Used to do 3 sets of 6 reps w/70lb added (at 140 bodyweight), a different grip on each set...normal, on parallel bars, and w/triceps pushdown rope attachment thrown over a bar. Oddly, never bothered my elbows at all, whereas bodyweight max-numbers sets wreck my elbows if I do more than a set.
My two weeks off from training ends on Wed. Yes!!

sorry but weighted pull-ups are close to useless.
i did them for several years. they're sort of fun, because in a bodybuilding/powerlifting gym, you can blow away all the roid ragers who bench 700.
but if yr elbows are that healthy, gill is right, climb the rope. then rope with weight. then one arms with small chunks of weight.
bar chins force yr elbows through a tweak zone, and the weights make it massively worse, esp. on the negatives. and there's not much upside. not a skill you really use anywhere.
if yr determined to do it, for the fun, then do it on rings or something where yr arms can swivel so you are less likely to do massive tendon damage.

Good advice Kerwin.
Two days ago I ran for a few hours in the hills around my house which felt great, then yesterday I went on a ride from my house down to Sandwich, then up the coast around Ramsgate, Margate, Broadstairs, Whitstable, and back to my house. About 72 ish miles. Here's some pics.
Singletrack self portrait early in the day. Spring has sprung!
Major thatching.
Old port town of Sandwich.
Sandwich. Too narrow for cars.
Grape Hyacinth on the bike path.
Cooling towers at a long abandoned coal power plant.
I didn't have the heart to tell those old people that their car only had three wheels. They'll figure it out.
Bike path toward Ramsgate.
Reproduction of a viking warship. I'm sure it's fairly accurate and all, but I doubt the vikings would take their "black pig" into battle with the equivalent of a pokemon/japanimation dragon on the bow..
Ramsgate port.
Typical riding along the chalk cliffs of the seafront. The vast majority of my training miles look like this.
Broadstairs, where Charles Dickens lived.
Speak of the devil! Here's his house.
Joss Bay, where the surfing is (normally).
Castle at Joss Bay.
Old fort on a golf course.
Chalk graffiti. I guess someone knows Sean.
Reculver. Old Roman fort.
More reculver.
Minnis Bay.
Red sun setting as I'm finishing the last five miles to my house.
