Its good to see some nations closer to the scene step the f*#k up and take care of their own business. This expectation that this is an American problem to solve is absolutely ridiculous.

agree that this is an international problem. but as far as i am concerned with 20% of our budget going to defense, killing pirates is a good way to spend some of that money.

yeah....unfortunately, chances are that oil is headed to the good ole US of A and we will pay for it at the pump. and unfortunately, our lips are locked around the oil teet.

Well, that's cheap advice for the yachting crowd but it doesn't serve for
the shipping industry too well. There's a lot more than just oil that goes
through those waters and plenty of regular people are suffering for the
western countries' lack of resolve.

I've seen some advertising for cruise ships that are heading to Somalia; they offer firearms instruction to the passengers using Browning M-2 .50 cal. machine guns and guarantee "moving targets!" Where do Ron and I sign up?! They also offer training with M-16's and other nice training items.

Does that mean that Dick Cheney will be shooting at the passengers?
Canned hunts seem a particular interest of the materially wealthy, and Republicans. Not much sport, if any.

Need to lighten this up a bit-more serious sh#t on pirates later.
My idea is we introduce some Western Pirate Lassies to the lads in Somalia and allow them to forget about the virgins in later life and get on with living now.
Kind of like smuggling drugs into Mexico?

I've made my bones and don't need more gore, but not all PTSD that I couldn't toe the line if I had to. Just not gonna fork out to play some wannabe Rambo.
I'll leave it up to you, Rodger, whether you want to join the seals or just club them like a canadian native.
