Proverbs 12:11, Whoever belittles his neighbor lacks sense,
but a man of understanding remains silent
Mark 4:30-34, And he said, “With what can we compare the kingdom of God, or what parable shall we use for it? 31 It is like a grain of mustard seed, which, when sown on the ground, is the smallest of all the seeds on earth, 32 yet when it is sown it grows up and becomes larger than all the garden plants and puts out large branches, so that the birds of the air can make nests in its shade.”
33 With many such parables he spoke the word to them, as they were able to hear it. 34 He did not speak to them without a parable, but privately to his own disciples he explained everything.

I'm a big fan of the book of Proverbs. How many verses are there about the fool and the wise man, often relating to the use of the tongue. Usually it's better just to STFU. If you seek wisdom, look no farther than there. Probably the most underlined book in my Bible. [But go easy on me, eh? Wisdom is a journey, not a destination]
"Even a fool is thought wise if he keeps silent, and discerning if he holds his tongue." Pr 17:28
Oh, here's one for buddy above, who asked about the use of the word "fear".
"The fear of the LORD leads to life: then one rests content, untouched by trouble." Pr 19:23

Zero historical facts talked about in the bible have been found to be valid from research outside the bible
Christianity is a historical religion. If you want to see some of it, go to the Middle East. The Romans kept pretty good censuses (sp?) that confirm many named in the NT.

Modern day John Muir, the VW Guru, not the John Muir of Mountaineering, conservation, scholarly fame. Classic Books. I wish he did some like that for the VW Westfalia Vanagon. I believe he has passed away sadly. Who could imagine reading a book on fixing your VW late at night in bed and actually being thrilled turning page after page. Loved the pen drawings. Classics.
Here are the words of Christ:
THE EIGHT BEATITUDES OF JESUS
"Blessed are the poor in spirit,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are they who mourn,
for they shall be comforted.
Blessed are the meek,
for they shall inherit the earth.
Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
for they shall be satisfied.
Blessed are the merciful,
for they shall obtain mercy.
Blessed are the pure of heart,
for they shall see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they shall be called children of God.
Blessed are they who are persecuted for the sake of righteousness,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven."
Gospel of St. Matthew 5:3-10

Jesus is the crux, you can choose to go around Him or through Him!
John 10:1, I Am the Good Shepherd
“Truly, truly, I say to you, he who does not enter the sheepfold by the door but climbs in by another way, that man is a thief and a robber.
John 14:6, (Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

Dingus Milktoast, But to go into God's house you still need Jesus!
OT... Chinese proverbs;
A bad workman blames his tools
A bar of iron continually ground becomes a needle
A bridle for the tongue is a necessary piece of furniture
A fall into a ditch makes you wiser
Proverbs 12:17, Whoever speaks the truth gives honest evidence,
but a false witness utters deceit.
Book Two
Why Are You Cast Down, O My Soul?
To the choirmaster. A Maskil of the Sons of Korah.
42 As a deer pants for flowing streams,
so pants my soul for you, O God.
2 My soul thirsts for God,
for the living God.
When shall I come and appear before God?
3 My tears have been my food
day and night,
while they say to me all the day long,
“Where is your God?”
4 These things I remember,
as I pour out my soul:
how I would go with the throng
and lead them in procession to the house of God
with glad shouts and songs of praise,
a multitude keeping festival.
5 Why are you cast down, O my soul,
and why are you in turmoil within me?
Hope in God; for I shall again praise him,
my salvation 6 and my God.
My soul is cast down within me;
therefore I remember you
from the land of Jordan and of Hermon,
from Mount Mizar.
7 Deep calls to deep
at the roar of your waterfalls;
all your breakers and your waves
have gone over me.
8 By day the Lord commands his steadfast love,
and at night his song is with me,
a prayer to the God of my life.
9 I say to God, my rock:
“Why have you forgotten me?
Why do I go mourning
because of the oppression of the enemy?”
10 As with a deadly wound in my bones,
my adversaries taunt me,
while they say to me all the day long,
“Where is your God?”
11 Why are you cast down, O my soul,
and why are you in turmoil within me?
Hope in God; for I shall again praise him,
my salvation and my God.

Then he said to the disciple: "This is your mother."
Gospel of John 19:26-27

If Jesus would practise acceptance and forgiveness on the murderer being executed next to him, who are we knott to do the same?
Did you know that Christianity is unique among the world's major religions in that you are saved not by what you do, but rather by what you believe and what has already been done for you. Seems almost too good to be true, eh?
Oh dear, that wasn't a bible verse. I guess I'm off topic. Please forgive me! Bwah-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha!!!

Not true.
If you believe for an instant that your father should go to jail including taking all responsibility for a crime you committed ..... then
YOU are OUT OF YOUR MIND!
