The owners ought to sell the land to the NPS, since they don't even live there anymore. Then the buildings could be removed and what a perfect spot for a new campground that would be. Or just restore the area and preserve it for the enjoyment of future generations of Americans.

Worst case scenerio, they sell the property to a developer, and it gets fully developed with McMansion, white fences, motocross track, shooting range,subdivisions?...who knows?

Very often inholdings such as this can not be sold to the public. In this case it is possible the NPS will buy the property.

Gary, I'm not responsible.

I know, Ron. My comment was meant as some sort of shot at you.

Ron, I have the dubious honor of getting DQ'ed on the same stage @ the 1990 Miller Invitational as Jerry.. He is real darn good but not quite as perfect as the video makes out. All those guys crash and burn ocasionaly. You really can't push the speed envelope that hard without haveing ocasional sloppy moments..

BTW it was a stupid setup and about 30 of the shooters got the chop there which works out to 10%. Did'nt make me feel any better about it though..

What an incredible crock of sh#t since you clearly don't have the faintest idea of what you're talking about.

They spend quite a bit of time up here.

Tell ya what, this is a great idea. You can lead by example since your so smart, why not sell off your property to the city or county you live in so they can build a park for "future generations to enjoy" of people you clearly don't give a sh#t about.

rok jox-more nonsense about Cali-as if it is some monolithic state where all the people are the same-if i said that about idaho, that all of y'all are bunch of christian extremists you'd be pissed too. And Cali doesn't try and impose its' will on the rest of the States, if anything a small vocal group of ignorant conservatives tries to impose their will on the rest of the country(see Texas school board). Maybe you and i can agree to hate Texas more, and that this lame bashing of entire states is plain silly and without merit. Umm, i doubt it.

The guys who never make mistakes and have pure ice in their veins are the NRA action shooters. Most of the pure speed guys crash and burn ocasionaly.

Ron,

I do believe you are correct, and I was giving a knee jerk response. Oh well, mud on my face.

I think it's more that I just get tired of hearing pussies bitching and whining about something that is everyone's basic right in this county, the right to own property and not be told what to do with it.

These are the same scumbags who complain loudly when people start suggesting they cannot do what they want with their property.

Pure and simple, double standards.

Brainless cowards, the lot of them.

Most likely these people are very religious, which explains everything. It's all good as long as you agree with them...

Morons.

inholdings can be sold to anyone the owner chooses to sell to, the park just usually beats them to it by offering to buy properties that havent been put up for sale.

but there are some who currently own inholdings in the whispering pines area, or adjacent properties in pine valley who are pretty committed to never selling to the park, in the interest of preserving private inholdings, because they are pretty cool. these are people who take better care of the properties they own than the tourists do of the greater park, and who would only ever sell to someone they trusted to do the same.

private property is private property, so id say that those complaining should count themselves lucky that the people who own the inholdings dont choose to do something more disruptive, like building a montstrosity of a house with light pollution and them throwing huge parties every night.

MisterE: That second one with the reload was just unbelievable. Amazingly fast.

(Almost as fast as this thread turned from a noise complaint thread by one citizen into an OH GOD BIG GOVERNMENT IS TELLING US HOW TO LIVE thread.)

Actually, I liked the Bridwell hijack.

He was just up there this weekend.
Two weeks ago he was holding forth at the Pass about how "people choose to be gay".

Jungle Drums ?! A Werner Braun bwaahahaha to you. I'm glad someone knows where I am so I can keep track of myself. :D

Still working on my computer which is driving me CRAZY. I have so many fun great pictures....like this weekend. I can post them everywhere but ST. Go figure.

I've spent a little bit of time with Jim Bridwell now and have really enjoyed it. For what he's accomplished in his lifetime he's way humble in my opinion. He is fun to talk to and what incredible history of the climbing community he has to share if you want to listen. I love his great brain when it comes to creating all sorts of things from climbing gear to clothing gear to art etc.

No shooting this weekend and the weather wasn't all that great BUT we got a couple climbs in and hung with some fantastic people. The economy may suck, life may be a challenge, but if you have friends you are good to go. Thanks Friends for a grate weekend, Ciao and Peace, lynnie
