Uh, can youz just take it to a motel. Just don't use the Hacienda or the Hollywood Hawaiian.
The last song Sam sang publicly? Not the actual version, but this is it.

"Lady, you shot me," were his last words.

anyone ever heard of Low from Duluth?
No, but I like what you shared. He has a wonderful storyteller quality about his singing.

Hope you had a great ride!
Absolutely glorious weather Saturday! The promised Santa Ana's didn't interfere, only provided a tailwind where I needed it.
Could have gone for an other couple of hours.

My all-time favourite Tommy Dorsey tune is Boogie Woogie [the original]

Listen for the trombone solo at the end. I love how he bends the thirds. I remember listening to that as a kid, and thinking, "Wow, that's lower than a major third, but higher than a minor third.... Why does he do that?"
Answer: Blues note
Years later: Duh
My dad was always asking me to play Tommy Dorsey's "Marie". I could hit the high Db [barely] back in the day when I was playing in the university jazz band, but I can't even get close these days.
However I am likely better at jazz improvisation these days, especially just reading off the chord changes live....

Born and raised in S. California and N. California, I miss the Santa Ana winds... But I love the wind, and that's kind of unusual.
Let that tailwind carry you to distances far off!

zBrown... that may be one of my all time favorite Sam Cooke songs. Nice.

Pete Townshend - the British rockah with the very looooooooong nose.....
Too bad they are so evidently lip synching all those rich harmonies - I love those suspended 9th chords.
Great windmill guitar strokes by Pete, but I was hoping to see his Scissors Jump.
RIP Keith Moon and John Entwistle

Here's Pete, not knowing just where he fit in with Dead and a relatively thin Mr. Garcia (1981).

Gerry offers Pete the stage around 4:40, but Pete ain't taking it - finally throws in a mini-windmill at 6:00

This guy may have been one of the greatest unknown trombonists.
I met him when he was doing evening religious radio broadcasts from a school I eventually got kicked out of. The place did have a kickass music program that he was part of and owned the two best pipe organs in the midwest.

^^ The epitome of Schmalzy Bone! A modern day Tommy Dorsey, for sure. Pretty awesome chops. [if you can stand the tune....]

This song is dedicated to S. West, who lost her life... I am floored.
She, a band manager and kick ass mom, loved music, and this was one of her favorite songs...

I can't imagine the conversation....
I have not collected my thoughts about the world around me this morning. Can't say much so far. All seems tame enough.
