Gorgeous landscape, mah frien'! And yeah, I'm feelin' perkier and perkier, like a guy who's been drinkin' coffee made with a sock.

But the medicos need me to take another trip out to the VA Clinic today to get a blood test. I thought I was all done with that pita, but they need to know my present INR level before we begin the full-blown application/treatment with Eliquis (apixaban). It's to prevent PE (pulmonary embolism).

I am told by the PT who visited yesterday, courtesy of Dignity Health's Home Care, that I will benefit from 30 minutes of walking each day, broken into segments, not all at once. I can manage that five minutes at a time and not knock myself out. I FEEL perky & all sitting here, but give it that long at an active level and it's amazing how it takes it right outta me.

We got this in common, probably. I know you're still coming back and won't probably be as puissant, shall we say, as you were just a short time ago. It's the price of having a body...they just plain wear out, especially when we abuse 'em the way we do.

I'm going to use a combo of bike and bus to do this today, with stops planned at Kevin's Bikes for a new combination lock, Target for some personal items, and then back to the VA Clinic to pick up a bottle of Eliquis sent from the Fresno VA pharmacy.

I'm heading out the door and going to Paul's Restaurant just up G St. from here. I'll take the camera and shoot some pix of their décor. It's a fun place to eat. I ran into a guy there who was married to the Rev's wife, the one he wished he'd never married. John is a musician. His fingers aren't working now so he cant work the changes on the fretboard well enough to pursue music any more.

I talked with the Rev last night and he told me the tale of running into John one time here in town.

"Aren't you the guy who married Sprout?"
"Yeah, I'm the one and it was the worst mistake I've ever made in my life."
"Well, that makes two of us."

So I met up with John Fox again today. Vern elected to drive me to the VA for the blood draw...we weren't there but ten minutes total, which is something of a record.
Targeted next was Target and we got out there pretty fast. I collected two lenses for the Canon, a 50mm with no options, single field. Can't widen the field of view. I'll learn to live with it. Haven't tried the 75-300 telephoto yet.
We got some other stuff and then drove to Paul's.
We walked into the place and I saw John Fox sitting down almost at the end of the counter. I told the gal at the hostess station that we'd go join 'the elderly gentleman' at the counter. We sat down on either side, taking the whole end of the counter.
The encounter at the counter...I initiated the proceedings by introducing the two to my right.
"John, Vern. Vern, behave."We sat under the falls and traded stories of legendary youth, incompetent middle age, and faltering elderdom. Come to find out, John and I have much in common and know many of the same people.
That's how it goes...a subject leads to another and blends with the one before and soon it's a conversation. It's hard to keep a three-way going, conversationally or sexually...someone is left out for a time, no matter what, generally, unless the parties are willing to talk over one another.I had a couple of good pancakes. Vern had a homemade biscuit and gravy. John ate linguica n scrambled eggs.
I asked John what the name was of his band. He said "Miles Creek." Miles Creek overflow is down a bit from Catheys Valley on 140 n runs generally on the right as you descend to Planada.
The creek itself passes under the highway several times. It's a picturesque area. You ought to see the creek fill up in a severe rainstorm...very fast, as there is nothing to impede the water. It's all rock up there with little topsoil.
John's grandad owned property out there and the band practiced in an old house out where the coyotes could dance to their rock n roll, then drift away.I still miss the Cinema, but these pancakes are admittedly better. Paul's has a great little bakery, too.

Sometimes you can bridge that gap
Sometimes gap your plugs
Occasionally you can plug a leak

But can anyone really trouble water

You can tell a really inexperienced or inexpert chain saw man by just listening to him operate it for 8 or 9 hours

"Jeepers creepers, Mouse is Mr. Peepers."

Stood on the corner at rush hour counting Jeep. Kept me awake.

Loved playing with the Brand New 75-300 lens with a working Auto-Focus.

Shooting moving cars you need an "auto focus," naturally.

I had a Jeep once

Sold it to a friend of my ex wife

When she had car problems she would call me

If I ever sell another one to somebody I know

I'm gonna buy that person an AAA membership for a year or two

My new hood is an older hood.

It's a good one, though.

It's not a Harrison Hood,

nor is it a Mt. Hood,

but it's all good.
Built in 1920.
