I am having better luck losing weight this year because I cut out all forms of sugar, and decided to go farther this year by absolutely minimizing other carbohydrates, which pretty much left me with protein to live on. I think cutting way back on carbs was the missing part and accepting the fact that I can live on protein, with some dry lettuce.
Caffeine actually interferes with natural heart rhythm. For me it is not wise due to the risk of causing atrial fibrillation.
After six years of intermittent atrial fibrillation, that became constant in April of 2014, I had ablation surgery in November of 2014. It seems to be 99% successful. I began feeling great the next day.
Then knee surgery in December to repair a minor meniscus tear from doing pause (at the bottom) squats that were too low with too much weight. I had tried to ignore the problem for six months. Eight weeks of pain followed that surgery. Rehab was challenging. I did not have professional help. I just pushed through the pain and then backed off a day or two, then pushed again and backed off a day or two, over and over.
I write this only to offer an example of how will power allowed me to feel about thirty years younger. Thank you all for your responses.
Hopefully I will work back up to pass my 2014 record of lifting 106,000 pounds (53 tons) in the gym in four hours. If you happen to lift weights with very good form, you know this is doable. But you have to work up to it over maybe a year. My recent effort was 40,000 pounds in February of this year as I regain my squat ability.
But my real goal is to improve my crack climbing this summer. I love motorcycling, swimming, tennis, running, the gym and golf. But my favorite sport is still climbing.

I have been trail running and mtn biking, up to eight and 24 miles respectively, details and photos to come...
But what I really want to talk about is my inversion training, not really aerobic, but as it's still endurance it's related!
I have some upside down climbing objectives this year, one of the necessary goals is to be able to hang upside down for long periods of time. I use inversion cuffs with three layers of wool socks for padding. I've worked up to over and hour! I do three sets of inverted sit-ups every ten minutes. Also pull my upper body up on rock rings in various work out strategies.
I have to sit around quietly for a while after that, I swear I can feel my organs shifting back intro place....

Nice GymBro Jaybro!
I got my first trail run(7miles 3+Kvert) of the year after the last 2 months of pt, biking and motoing. Sore in the muscle and the 47yo knees are feeling great!!! The gym and commuting by fixt wheel is why I can run and I am grateful for it when I am busy or just want to be in better shape. My only caveat is that I have to run up or down hills, even 1/4 mile continuous time/dist on flat kills my knees

I got in a predawn headlamp illumined, trail run in this morning.
My next objective was suggested by KLK from this photo I posted,
I think that ridge, and back to the trailhead on the road should be a sub 10 mile loop....
Susan, a couple of my toes Are sore....
Go Atch!!
Thx for that Limping crab! I'll check it out, I'm looking to train the core in endurance mode for some steep climbing projects!!
Good luck with the knees, Cragar!

Ran 30 miles last week and a snowshoe ascent of something in the Catskills on 30 inches unconsolidated. A good week.
The snow here in the East this year, has been unusual. Gotta git sum even if the running takes a hit.

Thanks for sharing, Jaybro. Did you work up to an hour gradually to see if your brains didn't pour out?

I lifted 35,000 pounds in the gym yesterday in an hour and forty minutes.
I ran two miles on the cushy high school track today, for my best time of 21 minutes. Seems slow doesn't it?
Then I ran five 100's in 22, 23, 24, 25 and 22 seconds. My best track day in at least twenty years.
When you are doing your calf raises, don't forget your seated calf raises. It will really help your running and frictioning on slabs.

Starting running again a week ago, ran every day for seven straight, a first for me.
Off the couch in seven runs this week:
27.8 miles, 5.00 hours, 4350 Calories burned of my lard ass.
Tonight was longest - 10.0 km in 69 minutes [some walking, I'm tired, dammit!] and burned 986 Calories.
The eight workout was tonight, when I realized I stopped at 9.4km, and decided to go out and run another 600m, just to round it up.
The things we do to train for climbing, eh? My training regime for big wall climbing is well documented and legendary.
And this has nothing to do with a certain hottie calling me Flabio.

Did 103 mi on the bike yesterday. Only 1500 ft of gain though. I did manage to keep the average heart rate down to 127 and averaged just a bit over 16 mph.
Best part was I was fully expecting my legs to be completely dead and sore for the commute today.
They weren't. Above average commute speed and the only thing that's sore are my seat bones.

Two 10Ks this month. The first, "The Scotland Run" in Central Park, over 8000 runners, Easter Saturday.
The second, a technical trail race in CT, with just over 200, Sunday past.
