The above performance is interesting in that to the casual listener it sounds like the same 4 measure sequence repeated ---- when in actuality it progresses from a 4 bar motif based on the root note ,to 4 bars based on the subdominant, then 4 bars based on the dominant, and then back to the root----in a pentatonic scale. There are some interesting dissonant notes/overtones to boot . There are numerous 16th note pick-ups at the end of several 2 bar segments

This Beethoven string quartet was one of 4 he wrote towards the end of his life--- his last major works. This particular video is missing the second movement but otherwise an excellent job by a group of young ladies.
Beethoven's last quartets were the final expression of pure genius by an one of the world's greatest artists. Of course he was stone deaf, old,alone, and in ill health when he composed these masterpieces. Absolutely mind-blowing. A tour de force of creative mastery.
