This dance, this cha-cha-cha step, is one I learned in ballroom dance class in 8th grade. One night the teacher, Miss Beakman, a seventy-something lady with a severe limp, showed off her pupils at a "recital" or demonstration of various dances.
It fell to me and Joey W., a short l'il gal who could really shake 'em on down, dig? And she was terminally cute. Miss B. chose us to dance the cha-cha-cha and we did it justice, but our moves were NO WAY IN HECK as varied and polished as this couple, probably pros.
You know, in trying to keep up with the Rev's dancing ability, I've had gals teach me swing steps, but anything fancy is beyond me. He's so far ahead on moves it's not close.
In honesty, the only dancing I do now is with a chair, doing a few aerobic things. I haven't the lung power any longer to really get out on the floor and shake a leg. As always, getting old sucks, but getting older is what we all secretly want.
If you don't know Jay, our Lost Man in Shanghai, he's my age and has to use a cane, walks slower than me, if you can conceive that, and has days where he is debilitated to the point he can't get around. We were a pair, lemme tellya, walking around Jamestown and Sonora, pokin' along.
It's been a long road, some parts easier and smoother than others, and I hope it keeps going a lot longer.
Jesus, what a ramble.

An old Irish joke
A backpacker is traveling through Ireland when it starts to rain. He decides to wait out the storm in a nearby pub. The only other person at the bar is an older man staring at his drink. After a few moments of silence the man turns to the backpacker and says in a thick Irish accent:
"You see this bar? I built this bar with my own bare hands. I cut down every tree and made the lumber myself. I toiled away through the wind and cold, but do they call me McGreggor the bar builder? No."
