Some may not believe it’s possible to expand space travel, strive for world peace, save the planet, cure diseases, end poverty, end racism and discrimination against women and the LBGTQ community, stop all war, and find a solution for drug addiction.

Many people don’t believe in these causes or if they do, they don’t believe it’s possible to find solutions to all of them. Naysayers are only holding themselves and many others back. Positive thinking is the first step required to promote these goals.

Let us not be Mired in Old World Views

If you aren’t hopelessly
stuck with the old
in a backwards apocalyptic
religious world view

You might join with progressives
the fearless and would be
planet faring adventurers
who’d build us anew

If you aren’t mired
in controlling the masses
amassing your wealth
for the rich and the few

You might restore this spaceship
called earth for you’ll notice
it’s primary function as
life support for this crew

If you aren’t limited
to one sided arguments
and lacking new visions
as some often do

There is room for creation
a peace for all nations
a unity of life forms
you’ll find that it’s due

For we can do all of it
by funding new energy
protecting our oceans
and funding our youth

So melt down your weaponry
and disarm your warheads
let’s live and let live
‘till peace be unto you

Stars Buck

It’s near two am
On Monday the thirtieth
And these sandy eyes
Moist, blinking, and dirtieth...
Could care even less
If that word isn’t worthiest
So long as these eyes
Could still perceive Perseus

I am using Lenna,s machine to post today...she n Ed met me at the VA clinic in Sonora and I will be at their house for a few days. I had my blood drawn at eight a.m. No line that early...

Am sitting on the deck with squirrels after going to Walmart for cat food...Ol' Francis sure has it made up here...There are two freaks, Oliver n Olivia, as well. The squirrels probably don't take any guff, being as large as they are, but the birds get unlucky from time to time. It sure is peaceful up here...Lenna's deck is already in its springtime mode with some new plants, etc. She likes the birds, especilly, here...a family of grosbeaks is in residence, related maybe to Copper, residing in her birdcage, sharing with a bugle and cockatiel. There are hummers, of course, too. Turkeys, jays, and more.

Nice poetry, bushman. And neebee, I will send a postcard with this address.

I am finished with reading Ivan Doig's Last Bus To Wisdom, a helluva book, and Largo's Rock Junction, a good selection of his short stories. I have started in on Joe Tasker's Savage Arena.

If I had my own phone line I could sign up for dial-up, but I have a problem with AT&T...I would be happy with that but owed them for a bill run up by an ex-roommate years ago. I would have to use someone else's account and pay it monthly like I used to do with my old land line set up by a sister-in-law. Larry, you called the other day and spoke with Tim...I will call you if you would email your number...my address book went missing during the move! Maybe we can work out something?

I am working to broaden my knowledge of the area and trying to build a network of friends here. Things wil get better, l know, but it takes time. Living with Tim is a temporary solution.

I am sleeping better and my breathing is easier at night so 1,500' elevation or so is just fine, long as I don't push too hard. I think I am gonna be happy here. I'll keep the light burning in case anyone wants to fall by. Tad, l got your message and the number. See you in a few weeks.

ZB, Hollie, Throwpie, F*F, and DMT,
I will CU whenever.

Lots of pics being stored away for later, too!

Peace, MFM.

Glad to hear you’re up in the hills there, Mouse. Spring in the air might put a spring your step!

Gnome’s pics got me to 🤔...

The Rubble with Rhyming

He took the lead climbing
then started to rhyming
“There’s moss on this choss
think I’ll show it who’s boss!”

As he tossed
his loss
And he fell through the air
with nary a care

Only thought

“Woah hold on there boss
I’ve forgotten to floss.”
And he swam through the air
as he fell to be fair

Rope caught
not for naught
Maybe rhyming’s bad timing
when crimping and diming

And Now
I won't fret! about it
or its green ness
it is supreme green, I love the play of light on the colors,
it is all good
but the mold sets me to hacking.
;\
I was thinking of cleaning off a strip or just certain holds wire brushing them only.
Now I wont even,
its fine to look at
no need to dance on it
Although when very dry like this,
in this bright light its fun found.

I went with Lenna n Ed to see her grandson's baseball team...6th graders...on a sketchy evening with raindrops and thunder/lightning but it held off long enough to get in a complete game...we left in the 6th as Kelton's Yankees led by two. We came back to dine on sweet n sour chicken a Lenna...she loves to cook and does it well. The power went off during a John Wayne movie, so we went to bed. It rained later and the temp outside today is in the low 50s with clouds. I spent the day snoozing and reading. Riley never had it so good.

Right now, I believe it's time for some more episodes of Laramie or Cheyenne. I tried downloading a shot Lenna made of myself and Kelton, but it is not loading to this page, so you will have to go to my photo file.

hey there say, bushman...

here you go:

hold this, facing SOUTH!!,

OR, better said, with E proper, and W proper,

but then, LIFT IT UP, above your head...
NORTH will then, be 'un-southed'
and, look straight up,
into the air, at the map...

here you go:

E - (you can't see it, as, the scan is blurry) is on the LEFT...
and
W - is, as you can see, on the right...

won't line up, until you lift it over your head...
north will go to 'proper place' then, and south will line up...

Thank you Neebee,
I’ll print out the chart and try it out. I’m a curious sort, I’ll admit, and will be happy to print out and use any star charts you post up.

I’m currently using the Planets App on my iPhone to do real time astronomical locating when I view the night sky. Over the last few years I’ve used it to help with locations for my telescope viewing.

Some telescope photos I’ve taken in years past.

The Toll Bridge

I was born the son
of a preacher man
Wild and reckless
and wreaking mayhem
Drinking to try and
erase all my sins
At war with myself
and trying to pretend

That drinking and drugging
were my friends
That lying and stealing
we’re justified in the end
That the world was the problem
so I would dig in
Lying to myself
I’d lift the bottle again

Those days seemed long
but time had grown short
My world was shifting
as the winds grew cold
The world closed in
and I saw myself
In the blink of an eye
I had grown old

I thought I was still a young man
I thought I had more time
My mind was not mature
yet my youth had waned
And all the love that I’d found
I’d pushed away
While all the good within me
I had shamed

As my world collapsed
I could see my specter
Laying drunk and dying
in some run down dive
Sobered by that vision
my view began to clear
This disease of addiction
wouldn’t let me out alive

Time passed and I was sober
Until a moment of despair
I dared not take a drink
but otherwise I did not care
I came upon a canyon
the abyss that lie below
Was at the depth of my mortality
with one final act to go

There beyond the mists
hung by aging banyan boughs
Was a bridge across the morass
that was seemingly unsound
The alternative was a round
in the barrel of a gun
I cringed to think I’d arrived there
from a world I had undone

I started across the abyss
on that rickety strand of wood
Daring to not look down
as if that did me any good
At the halfway point I paused
and with trembling lost my poise
When I heard something whisper
without making any noise

It said the price to pay
was the final toll
A series of actions
I thought I knew but oh
The first lesson was gratitude
beyond faith and sacrifice
Gratitude for freedom of
the choices in our life

The next lesson was suffering
of a depth I’d rarely known
Bare faced raw and primal
but embraced for what might grow
The final lesson was love
beyond everything held dear
Beyond the stars and all the planets
Beyond all reasons not yet clear

The final lesson left me baffled
and the ringing in my ears
Was drowning out the spirit’s voice
as I trembled with fear
I took another step
until the trembling had passed
With every step disaster threatened
each step might be my last

A hundred years seemed to pass
before I reached the other side
Then I knelt and kissed the earth
for the voice had never lied
I knew then that the lessons
now imprinted in my mind
Were the toll that I had paid
a gift adversity would only find

The toll bridge was behind me
but along this strangers path
Lie many canyons much larger now
than any in my past
With one foot after the other
as many wisemen have said
We must try to make the best of it
until it’s time for bed

For the days might seem long
but time grows short
Our worlds are shifting
as the winds grow cold
Then the world closes in
as we see ourselves
And in the blink of an eye
We’ve grown old
