We do plan to give it a try and see what happens. Kids are great. We think having one will be very entertaining. Yet if I can't have any, we also are able to see how not having kids is great too. It will allow us to travel and do more things.
Life is good.

Have a kid, Ana, even if you hate all my posts here...having a kid yourself will permanently change the way you see things.....for THE BETTER!!!!
I know it sounds cliche. It did to me, too. But it also changed me. If ya want more, adopt, but have a kid yourself. I could hook you up with my wife who launched our son, but you prolly have plenty of friends to consult...
I'm serious, Ana, have a kid. It's great!

Mike,
Yes they are original CF Martin examples.
I've gone through a few to get to the current 35 and it's a killer herringbone.
Here's the brood a couple years ago when the illness was real bad.
D18 Authentic, 1935 D28, 1937 D28, 1944 D28, 2004 Clarence White Brazilian D28
Enjoy

Timid TopRope,
Thanks for asking. Clarence was killed by a drunk driver while loading up after a gig in 1973, he was 29. Martin issued this commemorative model based for the most part on the hugely altered 1935 D28 formerly owned by Clarence and now owned by Tony Rice. (How Tony got the guitar is a cool story). It's built from the same materials and to a lot of the same specs except; the sound hole isn't as large, the neck is fatter, it's not built with hide glue, it has adjustable neck reinforcement with a big L shaped end block and popsicle brace. While it is a cool guitar, it will never in a million years sound like the White/Rice 35 or the couple 35s I've owned.

Sheesh, Chief. You got more money in Martin's than
I do in my house. Shizzle. How much climbing gear do you
have?
(And I wanna hear the story how TR got that Ax from Clarence. . .
I might have seen him playing back of Linda Ronstadt in 1970. . .Clarence,
that is). . .
Tell me the stories how you got those guitars!!!!
(I've got a '73 D18 and it'll never sound like much, period).

Steve,
That picture was taken when the illness was REAL BAD!
I released a couple guitars afterward and kept a wicked 35 D28 for chump change. The shaded 37 bone fetched a record amount in a four guitar transaction. The guy that bought it also has my former shaded 37 D18, now there's a pair of dreads! The family is down to a D18A, the CWB D28, the 35 D28 and the Musselwhite custom. Guitar rich, cash strapped!
Clarence pawned D28 #58597 to Joe Miller in 69-70 and couldn't get it back off Joe before he was killed. Tony tracked down Joe in 75 and bought the guitar back for $500. It was in Tony's words, "a train wreck". It was already way off the mark with an enlarged soundhole and a Gretsch 1/58" shortscale fretboard on a whittled down neck. Tony had the guitar reworked to his specs and went on to redefine the role of the D28 in bluegrass and acoustic stringed music. Fretboard Journal did a beautiful piece on Tony and Clarence's old D28.
More later.
