"Oh sorry did that not fit into the conservative news narrative you're trying to echo?"

No, it didn't, so it was summarily ignored. This is an effective strategy by which many deluded people lead their lives.

Guys I bet McCain got more money from environmentalists than anyone else. HE would have shut down BP's drilling before this accident ever started! WE SHOULD HAVE VOTED FOR MCCAIN!

President Palin would know that deep water drilling was dangerous and would have put a stop to this immediately. WE SHOULD HAVE VOTED FOR MCCAIN AND THEN KILLED HIM SO PALIN WOULD HAVE BEEN PRESIDENT.

Funny...Harry Reid has made up almost a 25 point deficit in just a month...most democrats are faring better then they were two-three months ago...and you barely hear a peep about a major republican take over in November.

I think the democrats will be fine...you got your own issues in your party. Maybe you should be more concerned with them?

Obama poll number are fine...considering he is in the high 40's to low fifty's...Ronald Reagan at the time in his first term was in the mid-to-low 30's and that's not having to deal with two major wars and the greatest recession in modern times.

Skip...the republican party is being cannibalize. Having Paul, Angle and Barton will just make it easier for democrats in November.

I'll take Obama/Biden anyday over the current day McCain/Palin.

The republican options look bleak to me.

Fat...I think they will 15-25 in the house and maybe 3-4 in the senate.

Normal for a off year general election.

Oh...the democrats gain 26 seats in the house in 1982...and who was president then??

I heard an interview with Newt Gingrich yesterday- he called the Obama administration the 'most radical presidency in the history of the US' (words to that effect). When pressed for examples, or how past POTUS's actions (i.e. FDR) compared, he of course came up stuttering and empty.

Kinda like the way things work here on ST.

I heard that too, and just after he said that I arrived home and didn't hear the rest of it. Sounds like I didn't miss anything.

A tea party favorite running for the U.S. Senate in Kentucky says President Barack Obama is using the Gulf of Mexico oil spill to advance an energy tax.
Not a bad idea - perhaps there are sane, honest, patriotic tea baggers after all. A healthy debate about raising taxes from their historically-low levels makes a lot of sense.

Skip...I have no idea what you trying to say about what I posted.

Fact...the democrats gain 26 seats in the house in 1982, Ronald Reagan was president.

Was the lost due to Ronald Reagan or to the foul mood of the voting public?

What are you trying to get at??

An energy tax is the exact right thing to do but I really, really doubt you'll see that coming out of the White House as anything other than carbon.

As for the midterm elections, the President's party nearly always loses seats at his first midterm. How many seats is the only thing up for grabs.

From Gallup:
Reagan came into office on a fairly high note, with initial job approval ratings as high as 60% by mid-March 1981. Then, on March 30, Reagan was shot on the streets of Washington by John Hinckley Jr., and the resulting concern and sympathy helped lift his ratings to 68% by May. But even as Reagan personally recovered from his wounds, the public's concerns about the bad economy did not, and the president's ratings began to fall as each month went by.

By the end of 1981, Reagan's job approval rating had drifted down to 49%.

Things got worse for Reagan in 1982. The public's view of the economy remained sour, and the president's ratings during 1982 stayed concomitantly low, in the 40% range, ending the year at 41%. The 1982 midterm elections were not good ones for Reagan and for the GOP. The Republicans lost about 25 seats in the House.

That's the story of how one becomes the "Greatest President in History" according to Republicans.

If McCain had won, I would have been in charge of MMS and insisted that BP follow the safer industry standards.

Not true about FatTrad's predictions. He predicted that he would help with the FaceLift the last three years, and he did. Big time.
