long, but worth the read if you care about education:

Him so stupid, 2+2 does equal 5, for greater values of 2...

I won't even speak to teh myriad of idiocy in the rest of the article (wha? no NCLB as a symptom and not a cure...duh!), but will leave you to contemplate that public schools are a pretty easy target, like picking on the fat kid....

Your so right...he should be like Bush and listen to God and then go kick ass...it worked out so well in Iraq.

good one, bob, very original

hey, shouldn't barry be talking to the experts to figure out how to solve the problem?

oh, right...the problem isn't the oil leaking into the gulf; barry's problem is the criticism he's getting--even from matt lauer; so, i guess by asking the experts whom he's supposed to blame (how long before he mentions bush?), he's actually solving his problem

and isn't the ceo of bp one ass that maybe deserves some kicking? but barry hasn't spoken to him? not even once? shoot, barry even kicked helen thomas' ass...ok, barely, and she's a woman, but still...

i'm no expert, but here's a list of asses i'd like to see barry kick:

iran, noko, turkey, and the un

"leave you to contemplate that public schools are a pretty easy target, like picking on the fat kid...."

you mean like michelle obama picking on all the "obese" kids in public schools? i guess that makes her a double-meany

perhaps we should just ignore the obvious and allow public schools to continue with the status quo since to improve them would require that we first admit there's a problem...but that might hurt their feelings and make us look like bullies

426 is apparently satisfied with schools that give credit for WRONG answers (i.e. 2 feet equals 48 inches); hey 426, why don't you hire some of those kids to put an addition on your house or do your accounting or something easy like babysit your kids?

you want to know the latest? anybody ever take an ap exam? so you know that you lost 1/4 of a point for every incorrect answer on the reading comprehension part...well, starting next year, that will no longer be true

yes, america, we're even dumbing down the "advanced placement" courses

Yes. How dare the First Lady focus on a pressing health issue that is killing a hell of a lot more people than terrorism. The outrage.

Also, if you spent any time talking with educators instead of just listening to pundits talk about educators you'd know that educators are the ones that have been screaming "there is a problem" the loudest for the last several decades. I realize it's more fun to demonize the teachers but c'mon.

Let's go back to the Bush method of making a panel and then just invading Iraq.

learn how to read!

426 compared criticizing schools to "picking on the fat kid", implying that we should neither criticize schools or fat kids...mrs. barry has made "childhood obesity" her focus, and i was just wondering if 426 thinks she's a bully for doing so--as his post would suggest

um, i am a teacher...and it's not teachers who are being "demonized" in the article, but the education establishment, which most teachers complain about

and i never claimed barry hasn't been talking to experts; i simply pointed out that a leader would be more concerned about stopping the oil rather than finding somebody to blame for the spill

anyway, if barry has lost rolling stone, well...

This explains precisely why you are not a leader, bookworm. Aside from the fact that your assertion is utter bullsh*t, you and your fellow droids have salivated wildly at the opportunity to have another opportunity to blame Obama for something.

This mess is all of our making, and defensive blame-games such as yours are not useful.

Right on apogee.

Republicans are not interested governing, just blaming and saying no to everything, even things they agree with, such as Obama's health plan, which had its roots in conservative think tanks.

What about a flat tax do you like, exactly?

that's easy: 1)EVERYBODY pays the same rate 2)simplify the tax code 3)eliminate not only the means (complicated deductions) but even the incentive for tax avoidance 4)maximize tax revenue 5)slash billions from the budget with elimination of the irs 6)promote investment 7)spark economic growth
