Skip is an Okie...is it no surprised that not one okie has ever made to the highest office in the US? :-)
The impeach Obama thing really does appeal to lowest-common-denominator...tea-baggers, racists and plain old whack jobs.

Bob,
I have a great deal of respect for you, too, and was disappointed I didn't get the chance to meet you when you were in our fair state. I suspect we agree more than we disagree. In any case, it would be a great honor to meet you, and even more so to share a rope -- if you don't mind pulling.

Victor knows the price of milk. You can take that to the bank.
Very good. However, he seems out of touch on a lot of other things from what he has written in that article.

f all we do is redistribute, we provide disincentives for economic growth and greater prosperity, and make the recipients of our largess permantly dependent. If we offer no aid, we condemn them to generations of squalor (imagine, for example, what would happen if we did not provide education for all children. Those of the poorest parents would need to work rather than go to school so they could help support the family. When would they get a chance to better their lives?)
Exactly, John. That's why I'm a socialist.

Because they allow dummies like pail-in to speak.. and attempt to blame BP's oil-spill-f*#k-up on Environmentalists....
I hate to point this out... But there is a reason that people started being staunch environmentalists in the first place.... It was because business, industry, or the government had dropped a bunch of toxins near their homes... They did not want this.. so.. they did what any American can do, and they raised their voices in defiance.
That is a true American, always has been, and I have a hard time siding with someone who does not see this as fact.

Dr. F,
Those policies include, but are not limited to, reasonable capital gains tax rates, stable price levels, promotion of policies that don't discriminate based on anything but performance (the percentage of Republican lawmakers voting for the Civil Rights Act of 1964 exceeded that of the Democrats), and appointment of judges whose decision reflect appropriate respect for the rights and limitations of government.
When I was born, my parents were barely middle class, if that. We didn't own a house until I was three -- and that was a one-bedroom affair. Because Republican policies did not confiscate capital gains (nominal) profits, my parents saved, invested wisely, and were reasonably comfortable by the time I got out of college.
If the current reactionaries' (who call themselves "progessives") policies were in effect, most of that capital gain profit would have been taxed away. Worse yet, I would have been offered all kinds of "aid" because I was from an ethnic group subject to invidious discrimination. I would have been taught that I couldn't make it on my own -- I needed the help of Big Brother to give me favors, and I should spend my time protesting rather than studying. I would have been set to to remain a salve on the liberals' plantation.
By the way, Dr. F, lest you think that latter point is an exaggeration, my first year of law school at UCLA, those students who were in charge of recruiting suitable minority candidates stated, in effect, "we don't want people who will spend time in the library. We want people who will spend time in the streets." Which of those types of lawyers would better serve the minority community?
That answer will have to do me for now. Since I'm a Republican, I believe my earnings have a direct correlation to my doing work, and I need to cut my break short to finish what my clients need.
Later.

Q: "Where are all those great Republican policies you claim to support?"
A: "Those policies include, but are not limited to, reasonable capital gains tax rates, stable price levels, promotion of policies that don't discriminate based on anything but performance (the percentage of Republican lawmakers voting for the Civil Rights Act of 1964 exceeded that of the Democrats), and appointment of judges whose decision reflect appropriate respect for the rights and limitations of government."
See how that works, Skip? Someone asks a question, and another person provides a direct, clear reply. The questioner may not agree with the answer, but it does allow a dialogue to progress productively.
You might take note of that (bluering could do the same), instead of floating something, then changing the channel when you are called on it.

The GOP is funny
They complain that the poor look for a government bailout if they fall on hard times but never cut corporate welfare that costs billions
They belly-ache about the costs of immigrants while being their main employers
They deeply fear universal healthcare from the government expecting business to to supply insurance to hard workers but would never accept a requirement for their business to supply insurance, but please, no healthcare for the uninsured!!
Please just work for pennies poor people, then die cheap.
They call for tort reform but GOP heavy companies sue each other more often and for more money that private individuals do.
It's just a me, me, me mentality that takes for granted that others have the gifts of intelligence, family wealth, race and status that they were born with.
I sympathize cause I'm cheap and hate shelling out money involuntarily as well but geez
GOP congressmen caught in gay sex scandals remind me of the Catholic Preist molestation syndrome...people running away from themselves trying to be other than what they are create a distortion that eventually betrays them.
But hey, I know the Democrats were bought by big business too. The Democrats are weak because they pretend they aren't bought but the GOP can be more blatant about it.
and we're just sheep who believe the canned lies that both parties tell us because they need the support of the "BASE" while serving the elite, which is where the real money goes if you follow it
Peace
Karl

ps: just curious...does anyone else find it amusing that barry needs another presidential panel just to tell him "whose ass to kick"? will they also tell him which foot to use? which shoes to wear? whether to go old school or soccer style?
