Bush had to clean up the dot.bomb bust left over from Clinton. Anyone remember NASDAQ 5000?

All Bush did was created wars, cater to big oil and corporations and tell Americans to grab their ankles.

I agree with both comments. The banks should not have loaned, and the borrowers should not have borrowed. How does fault change the fact that our government is now trying to maintain this untenable situation?

been watching the koreas and the middle east, lately? yes, yes, i'm sure that's all bush's fault, too

oh, and all that money from big oil (particularly bp) that went to barry after which bp just coincidentally received waivers on environmental and safety inspections

and let's not forget passing a health care bill that every poll in america clearly indicated was opposed by a majority of voters--talk about an elected official telling his constituents to 'bend over...and like it'

Bookwrong...do you enjoy getting your ass handed to you on a daily basis??

The plan would be even more popular if it had a PO included...something the public (71 per-cent) wanted and the republicans were against.

Again...I think you have major issues with Obama.

We pay taxes...it isn't free...do you understand stand that.

Maybe use the money we send to Israel every year would be a good start.

Read it and weep...we spend almost ten times more than number 2 and more than all the countries combined.

Each Israel citizen cost us 24,000 dollars a year...great investment...for them. You are short changing your own citizens for them.

Fattrad,

There's nothing free about the healtchare in Europe. Everyone pay's in and everyone benefits. Take France for example: exemplary care, everyone has access and it's half the cost per capita than the US.

The healthcare bill was a victory for Republicans - it's a completely gutted version of what Obama had originally promised. Seriously, no public option and the Republicans are still complaining!

The reason they pay less per capita is because they cover less. Things like cancer (in particular) and end of life care in general cost a lot of money. Here, where people have a choice, we largely pay for that. In Europe, where often people have no practical choice, they do not.

Also, as fattrad points out, the demographics are turning against the European/Japanese welfare state model. All of them are supported by current workers. As the current worker to nonworker ratio increases, the tax burden increases dramatically.

Americans generally are beginning to understand that, except those on the left. They still think you can pay for all this by raising taxes on the productive.

don't worry; i'm sure by 2014, barry's team will be able to meet all deadlines associated with health care...you know, like making sure you get that life saving surgery while you still need life saving surgery

It's interesting. When Dick Cheney was president, every time a refinery shutdown for a shift for maintenance, the price of gas went up $1. Now a well has been destroyed and out of action for a month, and no change in the price of gas.

Curious.

The wankiest generation is also known as baby boomers, or yuppies.

And generation X, and the so-called millenials, may not be doing much better.
