How about this:
The massive, overwhelming, and mind-blggling majority of climate scientists believe ...
yes, that seems a much better description than "consensus"
semantics are SO important in labeling overwhelming agreement...
wtf ?

2.2 BILLION humans currently believe that jesus christ is the son of God and that God exists.
Does that make that statement a correct, true and real fact?
the chief is right, billions of humans also believed the earth was flat
however, I don't understand the connection between mythology and scientific verification?
no way the chief would be tying to make them logically similar, he is too smart for that

The majority of Christians, 2.2 BILLION humans, currently believe that jesus christ is the son of God and that God exists.
There you go again The Chief, trying to equivalent religious dogma with scientific study.
Got any other nuggets that make yourself look like a fool?

Like every post on this assinine thread, it is only your close minded opinion.
The Chief, don't tell me you think of yourself as open minded.

Norton, it degrades your position to say there is consensus on AWG, when in fact we know there is not consensus. limpingcrab is right when s/he says, "[using the word consensus] immediately reduces the credibility of anyone who says it."
For the record, here is the Merriam-Webster definition:
con·sen·sus : a general agreement about something : an idea or opinion that is shared by all the people in a group
(my emphasis)
Carry on ...

Talk about closed minded. Chief you take the cake.
I have no prejudges. If Zundapp made the best bikes I'd be there I don't care.
& if I like something it doesn't have to be the best, I'm ok with it's faults.
You are the last person that should talk about assuming. You have put words in my mouth I would never say.

Can we get a consensus on the idea that this thread never fails to amuse?
Between the polar opposites of Ed and rick, the shiester known as Sketch, the level-minded DMT, the over-inflated hot air balloon, and the rest of the posters in the group, it seems I just can't get enough.

the interesting logic of The Chief seems to be:
Galileo was a skeptic
I'm a skeptic
therefore, I'm just like Galileo....
I "know" Galileo, and The Chief is no Galileo...

Well , I see the rogues gallery of low stature conformist, hip, trendy mind dead monobots are out in force this morning. Shouldn't you guys be out marching for earth justice or something, isn't it just a little lazy of you guys to profess your consensus only on the electronic pages of this backwater forum? Get with the programming dummies.

I don't find it amusing it all. I find it depressing and frustrating that a sizable minority of willfully ignorant and arrogant so-called "skeptics" have hijacked a national conversation about what to do about a grave problem. It's sad, but the idiots have control. If this was an arcane, academic issue then it might be amusing. But it's not.

Yes, FM, arguing with chief is a waste of time. Not because he's wrong but because he's a liar.

k-man,
As a lurker, I guess I'm too slow on the draw for the furious speed of this thread. Regarding your post a couple of pages back, a fuller definition of "consensus" from Merriam would make it seem a pretty good representation of the the situation among actual climate scientists. The abbreviated defintion doesn't match very well.
Full Definition of CONSENSUS
1
a : general agreement : unanimity
b : the judgment arrived at by most of those concerned
2
: group solidarity in sentiment and belief
Otherwise, as you said: "carry on".

Ed,
I typed in your name and where you are from in the white pages, and yes....you are a real person. Up front with nothing to hide. I went back several pages on this thread and you are the only one. You never cease to impress me.

Roger, I was intrigued with your claim that the only real person posting on the last several pages was Ed. He, Ed, isn't the only individual unafraid of voicing and standing behind what they represent as who and where they really are. Everyone knows who and where The Chief is as well as the endless repetition of who and where Bruce Kay is.

Tony, point taken.
And as Norton stated about the semantics, or wording, of the general agreement, it perpetuates a diversion. I understand that the issue is a serious one and it's a shame that clowns pull down the discussion to their level (and I don't mean just on this thread).
Arguing about how few real scientists object to the findings of the mind-blowingly large majority of climate scientists is a waste of precious time.
