Palin is actually everything you are against. She's for no abortion even for rape.
She tried to get federal money by the boatload for a total pork bridge, then when it didn't pan out, she spent the money they got on something else and later complained to be against the bridge. Her state redistributes wealth to the unemployed, kids, and the homeless and yet takes $1:83 in federal Tax dollars for every $1 they pay, while all the while giving over $3000 scott free to every man woman and child. Her preacher bragged ridding an african village of Witches!
If a Democrat did that you'd die!
She was the mouthpiece for lies and negativity in this campaign that will continue to poison Obama as many of her followers may still think of Obama as a terrorist pal.
She's far from honest, flying her kids around on state money and giving them laughable "job roles" on expense reports (like "official first family race starter" for a snowmobile race)
Even her accent is fake as UTube will prove to you. (they compare her public appearance from a few years ago and now. She sounds completely different)
She's everything you complain about from others here. Not a coincidence.

I agree with the thread title. Palin's sound really does bite. It's a grating, hectoring whine.
Palin seems a decent enough person, probably a good mother and wife, and is moderately well educated. She has strong beliefs, many of which are well out of the mainstream, and is quite parochial in her knowledge and views. She has done quite well, given a middle-class background, although luck and initiative probably have more to do with it than hard work and intellect.
The views Palin expressed during the campaign were ignorant and intolerant, and far from the reality of modern America, notwithstanding their popularity with segments of the electorate. It appears that she has risen well above the level of her competence and experience in becoming governor of even Alaska, a state with a relatively small and isolated population, and an economy distorted by oil revenue and federal subsidies. She may still do a decent job, given competent advisers, and a little luck. People in such positions often have less real power, and so less real opportunity to badly screw up, than is sometimes believed.
Given some experience and tempering, Palin might eventually make a decent senator.
It is abundantly clear that she has neither the qualifications nor the experience to be a credible vice-president, let alone president, and that it would take her years to acquire them, if indeed she was ever able to do so. It also seems doubtful that she could do the balancing and compromising required in a larger arena.
One of the rumps of the crumbling Republican party may well succeed in getting her nominated in 2012. That would almost certainly benefit the Democrats, and may indeed be necessary so as to prove that the Republican party is not viable in its present form.

To put it another way, it appears that pit bulls (with lipstick) will fly before Palin is qualified for national public office. She seems to have very limited potential for growth, both personally and in terms of her constituency. But you never know.

Lois, it's a new story reported by Major media outlets (including fox news, see link above) quoting top McCain aides who demanded anonymity. That's all your going to get for now until somebody writes a tell all book.
Palin is a lot like Lois in some ways. Did you read the transcript from those comedians who called her on the phone claiming to be the French President? He complimented her on her biographical film "Nailin Palin" (a hustler porn film) and she thanked him for the compliment. Obviously "intelligence" doesn't resolve all the cognitive challenges a person has.

So her response of "Thank you" made sense. Hell she didn't know she was being trolled.

Knowing when you are being trolled is probably a pretty serious political qualification I'd say.
You'd think she'd catch on after he had already given totally bogus names for the Canadian Prime Minister and other key figures. (and hey, you can see Canada from Alaska)
It would be like getting Largo on the phone and saying
"yeah, after Tensing Norgay soloed Astroman, the climbing world hasn't been the same. I prefer sand crabbing myself, but to change the subject, I really liked your climbing biography, Long Dong Silver!"
Somehow I think John would have caught on.
Lois, There is plenty of first hand footage of Palin acting completely clueless. The Africa allegation, which even Fox news ran, is just icing on the cake.

She's got some tremendous qualities though, if channeled correctly can be real useful in a leadership position.

Do you REALLY want a (possible) President of the United States Of America, winking at you, during the state of the union address? Really? Are you kidding?

Karl, you are a little more not relaxed and nonpeaceful on this topic than usual. Just sayin' and I could be very wrong. Usually you are not hanging around when the negative vibes are sounding...or you are putting in your two cents to correct the negativity.
But I seriously mean I could be misinterpreting. It's sometimes difficult to process what people really mean on these posts. So much nicer to speak to people face to face in real life.
