Dingus, if she is simply trolling, then she shouldn't be concerned if people follow her around. Calling someone a stalker is serious business in these days. People get hurt by these type labels, so one should be careful when using them. I think this is what upset Hardman and I don't blame him for being upset. I have been concerned about how he went about dealing with this, but he seems to be beyond that, or so I hope.

Hardman, I apologize if I made you think I thought you were stalking T*R. I never thought that.

Calling someone a "stalker" has a long history on ST, going back at least to October 2004.

Hey Schitt, is it okay for one person to throw toxicity around but not another? By defending your girl so vociferously, you are pretty much saying that females are not equal. In other words, they can throw crap around the forum with impunity, and when that crap is thrown back at them, you are there to defend their poor, "victimized" little selves.

You are a flaming hypocrite...

Who are you?

As for the word "stalker," it depends on the connotation. There are forums where people banter back and forth jokingly calling each other "stalkers."

I would think that most thinking people would not think a person is being placed in the serial murderer realm by being referred to as a ''stalker online.

Let me ask you this - Suppose you belong to a forum that displays "who's online" and/or allows you to collect "friends" which also shows the status as to whether they are online at the moment.

Suppose a particular person tends to post in threads you post to, with references to your post, and also sends you PM's through the forum that, coincidentally, arrive minutes after you log on to the site. Frequently.

Suppose you ignore those PM's, because you don't care to engage the person - and the next time you log on, you get a PM from said person (again, moments after you get on) that simply says "I C U."

Male doing the "C'ing" and female on the receiving end, friends at one time but the female having recently cut away.

Would that be something one might consider "stalking?" Just creepy? Just a guy trying to be friendly and the girl making a big deal over nothing?

So, by the t*r definition of INTERNET stalking, if you follow someone around saying things she likes in her threads, you are cool, but if you disagree with her, you are a dreaded internet stalker.

I see.

Double Edit: I refrained from posting that old rec.climbing stuff; didn't feel the need to rub it in...

DMT - OK it's done. Although I took great offense at some of your comments, I have
it on good authority––as you surely know––that you're a good guy in real life. And
that is indeed what really matters. Even if you were joking about "stalking" or being
"creepy", maybe I can help you understand my hyperbolic reaction to those terms...

One day I was reading the newspaper when I happened upon a story which involved
a couple people I went to grade school with. Although I knew the boy and the girl,
I had no idea that the guy was totally obsessed with her, even into their 20's, and
after she had gotten married and had a kid. He showed up at her house and killed
her, and severely wounded her husband. He then took an elevator to the 44th floor
of the Hilton hotel, and then jumped to the street below. I happened to be living a few
blocks away at the time. Hopefully this explains my visceral reaction to those terms.

Peace.

You're in high agitation, Dave, but that seems a spectacularly un-apt epithet to hurl at DMT.

And some people are just insane and need to take their meds, and perhaps find better ones.

That people would be Juan de fvckup.

And for the record, I will NEVER, for any reason, jump on t*r's A$$.

But you Juan, can Kiss my A$$, as long as you take a big drink of Tang first. I can tell you have not been drinking your tang.

I prefer sane, rational women with good sense, and I have one, thanks very much.

No, juan is just a psycho-drug addled dumba$$, who'd be better off spending more time with his therapist(s).

Plus, he's hot for t*r.

If you work on him a little, he might make a good republican, ROTFLMAO!!!!!
