I have screen snaps of some major events. None more major than the one I posted on the previous page. I also posted much of the blow-by-blow up until I got sucked out on a 50:1 dog.
A few hands later I was toast so I don't know what happened beyond that.
Salad won. Russ wasn't in on the fun this week...

since there really isn't any way of not using poker speak how about definitions (think about it, it's like saying "Hi Rich, I have have the rope through this metal device and clipped to the caribiner which is locked to my waist harness so you may now climb up the rock and if you fall i will catch you and stop you from cratering as best I can" when I could simply say "you are on belay").
So...
blinds: two players have to put chips up on the table before cards are dealt. there is a small and a big blind. So "blinds are 50/100" mean one person puts out 100 and the other 50 chips w/o seeing their cards. the blind rotates.
bad beat: it means some lucky fool caught some cards that really helped them to win a hand when they were very behind.
pocket 9's: means the two cards dealt are 9's
All-IN: means all your chips have been pushed in the pot. IF you lose you are out of the tourney.
double-up: you just doubled your amount of chips
suck-out: it's what you do when you issue a bad beat.
"flops a flush": the first three shard cards are the flop. if they are all suited the same and you hold two of the same suit (making five total of the same suit and thus a flush) you flopped a flush.
"taco bill is down to a short stack but catches AA vs QQ next hand to double up. ": taco bill had a small stack - not much power. But he got two aces and the other person had two queens. aces beat queens so unless the five cards that are shard have a Q in it (giving him three Q's) then the Aces hold up and win.
"Stewed1: ive got my wife fetching beers, and a piss bottle in hand. no need to get up.": Salad has a sweet wife who is bringing him beers. To take a leak he pisses in a bottle next to his computer. He need not leave the computer (game) for any reason.
"goatboy now down to less then the big blind.... looks like trouble.": the blind (from above) was more than the total amount goat had in chips.
"Stewed1: im calling the home phone from my cell to request another beer. We'll see how well that goes over. ": pretty simple, Salad called the house phone to request that his wife bring a beer. She was probably two rooms away. LOL! But the deal was he made coffee in the AM for it.
bubbleboy time: means if you get prize money to three people and you go out fourth you are the bubble boy. That would have been me.
So short trip report.
In the pict I showed I was holding 33 while tkings was holding QJ.
The flop came Queen, four, three, giving me three three's and him a pair of Queens. When the other four (fourth card) came out it gave me a full house 3,3,3,4,4 while it gave him two pair Q,Q,4,4.
The trouble was when that third four came on the last (fifth) card it gave him 4,4,4,Q,Q while I had only 4,4,4,3,3. I was so far ahead of him. He had about a 50:1 chance of somehow beating me. But he sucked out with the two fours and delivered me a bad beat.

I bet it's Pocket Rockets to my Dolly Parton. The trouble is my smear is about as good as my ring lock, and BillyBob goes all in. The Flop comes, and I tell you, she ain't quite about it. All hearts, with a sixty-nine and a queen. This place looks about as classy as Micky-D's, without the sauce and suddenly, my arm bar doesn't feel so good. I slam a chicken wing as they go wild at the sudden Turn. It's another bitch. I'm slipping, greasing out. Suspicious, my sexy man-eating-woman hand doesn't look so good, and it's back to rosie's for me. All-in doesn't nearly describe the pleasure of this painful hand.
I say don't wait for the River, pounce on it when you're up.

You don't have to answer this....but how many hands did you play? Were you able to toss cards and get new ones or did you just play the hand dealt.
This is pretty fun. I am learning about poker...while I am watching a Chris Lindner DVD on climbing...did three routes at the climbing gym yesterday that I could not do last week and did two in good style.....
You know life can REALLY suck and then good stuff starts to happen again.

Lynne, how many hands? Not too sure what you mean. But in Texas Hold-em, you don't draw cards like in Five-Card Draw. Instead, you get two cards for yourself (the Hole cards) and there's 5 community cards (shared by all).
Here's an interesting site, it's for low-limit, but it explains the concepts well:

PS:
You know life can REALLY suck and then good stuff starts to happen again.
Just wanted to say...I SOOO KNOW what you mean. Life got really, really good. For a while. Right now, it's back to sucking old peaches, but I plan to get to that good stuff again soon.
I look back and wonder how I made it through such crazy times, and then came around to saying "Damn, it's so worth being here." When I was down, I wrote a note to myself that said "Young at heart." Man did that help me out.

Lynne, just watch some Texas hold-'em tourneys on TV--they can be pretty educational for strategy and the comments by the announcers help for terms :-)

NOooo, on TV you learn how to play in a final table situation, where people have seen each other for days and so have an idea of what thier opponenet will probably do, and the blinds are so high that risks get taken that normally would not, and you are also looking at people playing who are already in the money.
That's NOT how you play at the start or middle of a tournament unless you want to leave early.

Sorry, dirt--it seemed like good beta to me, but maybe I have more poker knowledge and strategy in me than Lynne. It's fun to watch late-night, though.

Though I agree with what dirt is saying in principle I agree more with mojede's suggestion for Lynne. A beginner won't pick up strategy by watching on TV. IF they have never played before they will A) understand the sequence of the game (three card flop, a turn, a river card, etc.) and B) start to understand some terms.
And then when she shows up at the Facelift and seeing P.E. play "The Flagstaff" or Gregg play "The Candyman" hand she really won't get it :-).
Beyond that though dirt and I and many on the taco might realize why Jesus bets the pot (laying him 2:1 pot odds) when he puts Doyle on a 3:1 draw, but people like Lynne are many many many hands of poker away from getting that part.
So yeah... watch on TV, learn the rules and the way the game is played but realize those guys know each other so well it's just silly.
I've read what dirt has to say about poker and I get that he's a good player.

Russ, I just hope you really believe that if we ever play, LOL.
Nice troll attempt though. Yawn. I think I'm spitting out your hook now.
Try harder. Use better bait.
Quick now Russ, what are your odds of hitting a flush on the flop with suited connys? NO peeking!
