I can see a line all the way out the middle of that thing. All it would take was a lot of pads and spotters and a whole lot of gumption.
Need to get Jason Kehl or Kevin Jorgensen out there...

C'mon guys.
Anybody have shots to post?
I don't care if they're from a cell phone capture, let's see what you guys are climbing on.
These photo threads are a nice break from the political, pornographic (and now anti-pornographic), and other non-climbing threads that make up much of the environment around here.
Chiloe, where are you?

Well, I've been debating whether I needed a vacation from SuperTopo, or SuperTopo
needs a vacation from me. It's kind of a mess lately, in terms of what I come here for,
but obviously for the moment I'm still here.
Upthread, many pictures ago, L asked where my "best lead" sequence of photos came
from. Didn't quite answer her but here's a photo I'd forgotten about, that hints at the
atmosphere of that place. The "best lead" sequence was taken on the partly-sunlit cliffs
toward far right in this photo. One long pitch, surf to summit.

A way to make climbing pic threads even better ... notes about the pics, like if there's any back story?
F'rinstance in my photo above, the first member of our posse is moving quickly because that's what
you do there -- time your dash between big sets of waves. The next guy is waiting prudently until
she gets across, then it's his turn. This section of the approach serves as a caution light
if it's tough to stay dry across this part, you might wanna turn back now. Farther out along
the traverse things get more exposed, as you can see in the picture.

I'm glad you're still here, too, Chiloe.
And I'm sorry for being part of the mess...I truly am.
Anyhoooo, WHERE is that spectacular cliff? I've never been to the east coast to climb, so it all looks delightfully alien to me...unbelieveably beautiful and featured like a climber's dream come true.
C'mon now...come clean with the local.:-)
(Oh yes, and please post another couple dozen photos. You and Louie and Tom are making my citified life bearable!!!)
Edit: Backstory GOOD!!! More photos AND Backstory!!!
Insatiable, aren't I? :-) :-) :-0

L, you're hardly part of the mess. More like a point of light, as I've written before (or should have).

I wish that was a local crag but it's in the Caribbean, Cayman Brac, where we went
in March. My best pic of the trip, posted earlier on another thread:
That's on a calm-ocean day, which ya don't always get. As Lord Slime's guidebook rightly notes,
...rogue waves can inundate the belay and first few bolts! More than one person has
gone through the wash cycle and it’s never on "Delicate".

Chiloe,
Thank you so much, my friend.
Not east coast, you say? Crap. I was hoping to see that place when I finally make it to The Other Side.
Now I've got to go to the Caribbean?????
Isn't that where they have all that hideous snorkeling? And warm shallow water that goes on forever? And boo-coo sea life? Not to mention real boat drinks?
Darn it. And now I find out they have the kind of rock climbing that dreams are made of, complete with running the gauntlet of a Maytag PowerClean cycle.
Oh baby! I am so there!

Our first evening there, a few years back, LS hisself welcomed us with rum drinks. Ever since,
they've been a staple on our New England front porch, late afternoon as we watch the last
sun hit the top of the pines. When ya can't get to the tropics, make the tropics come
to you.

Good stuff Chiloe, makes me want to go check that stuff out someday...it also makes me want to start drinking early today as well...heheh
This is another shot from Smith, on the Western Chimney...a fun little 2 pitch. We met up with my childhood buddy Reid, who was currently living in Eugene...he's now in Africa
This is the view you get once you top out...

Nice!
What's funny is that you and Leslie have been climbing for so many years, and you're always talking about all the scary things you've dragged her up and over.
Yet she always looks like she's having the time of her life.
Either she's an adrenaline junkie, or you're not the climbing bootcamp sargeant you claim to be. ;-)
Edit: Tom, that last photo is spectacular.

That sounds really, really nice.
I've always enjoyed looking at your pics of the far reaches of the globe (frozen and tropical), and scratched my head in awe and envy at the amount of traveling you seem to do. Now I'm getting a sense of how good it must feel to simply come home. Thanks as always for sharing, and for making this site better than it probably wants to be.

Although she's got a certain fund of stories suggesting otherwise, those are mostly
from my younger days when I was an even worse person. Nowadays I'm more like Mr. Slowski,
but for some reason our kids have become the boot-campers.
"We're tired," we whined, after walking all day through San Sebastian.
"Can't we stop at one of these bars, sit down for a drink and a bite to eat?"
"We can rest when we're dead," came the cheerful reply.
