Pistol Pete: the Who are definintely my favorite band, but I think Pinball wizard is their most overrated song and Tommy is in general an overrated album compared to Quadrophenia, which I believe to be the greatest thing in rock and roll, ever, with Who's next a close second.

It's funny how the songs everyone thinks are "best" by a band I never think are actually so.

For example,

Led Zeppelin; everyone says stairway to heaven, I say No Quarter.

Simon and Garfunkel; everyone says Mrs. Robinson, but I think it's totally mediocre and that Scarborough Fair, Patterns, and Sounds of Silece are way better.

Johnny Cash, everyone likes his early stuff but I think "hurt" and "further on up the road" are his best songs.

Etc. etc.

tradcragrat,

I know what you mean- I just had that particular Who song stuck in my noggin (Had to listen to it )
As far as Zep- I would have to go with "Babe I'm Gonna Leave You"

Right now, listening to Soul Coughing- "Screenwriter's Blues"
Too bad the band is no longer.

Peace
