Since I was in it last month, I though it would be worth posting this photo of the original Hall of Mirrors to this thread.
It's located in the Palazzo Reale in Genova.
Quite a nice palace, actually.

I thought the Hall of Mirrors led up to Louis XIV's throne in the palace of the Sun King at Versailles?

Bruce is correct. The famous hall of mirrors is in Versailles.

You are right, Bruce, but since I don't have a picture of myself there, I posted that one.
Versailles was mostly built between 1638-1715, the Palazzo Reale between 1643-1655. Apparently, mirrored rooms were popular as a demonstration of wealth:
"In the 17th century, mirrors were among the most expensive items to possess at the time; the Venetian Republic held the monopoly on the manufacture of mirrors. In order to maintain the integrity of his philosophy of mercantilism, which required that all items used in the decoration of Versailles be made in France, Jean-Baptiste Colbert enticed several workers from Venice to make mirrors at the Manufacture royale de glaces de miroirs. According to legend, in order to keep its monopoly, the government of the Venetian Republic sent agents to France to poison the workers whom Colbert had brought to France.[7]"
But bringing the topic back to climbing - People who have never climbed on Yosemite glacial polish probably cannot imagine how insanely slippery it can be. That sickening squeaking sound the rubber makes if you stray onto the glass. I haven't climbed on the Apron in a while, but I don't remember the polish there as being as bad as on some of the walls in the Meadows. What do you think?
