when all you do with your energies is scrape at mountains,

a first acsent in patagonia... even solo.. is a logical extension of your exsistence.

i am not wowed though. sorry.

the greatest challenges lie in the diverse obstacles that life presents.

a steadfast devotion to a dirtbag lifestyle produces profound experiences like making sense of the patagonian heights, but it also suggests an unwillingness to accept deeper challenges.. like that of selflessness.

bah...this guy gets sponsored because he made a "late season link-up of El Cap and Half Dome." perhaps the "latest ever." A good climber. A better sprayer. Have fun down there Dave!

Norwegian...what have you done? Besides muddle through the "diverse obstacles of life."

Seems like Dave is able to handle the "diverse obstacles of life" but still finds time to kick your ass in Patagonia.

I don't know, I kinda like what the Norwegian said. He always has an interesting perspective on things. Sure, I admire what Dave has done, but real living can be just as challenging as the wall routes I have done. Face it, there are a lot of things you don't have to worry about, isolated on a wall. You can really focus on the matter at hand. In real life there are many distractions.

A steadfast devotion to the dirtbag lifestyle is fine for a time but continued later in life it will lead to lose/lose scenarios. We have adequate examples in the climbing community that prove the point.

Norwegian is probably still pissed at Dave for poopooing his weird self belay setup.

All energies scraping at mountains? You should know someone before your make dumb generalizations about them.

Dave is young and is making the most of his talents. I applaud him for living his dreams, and doing stuff way beyond what most of us could do. Plenty of time left for him to explore other aspects of life. I wish I did more dirtbagging when I was young.

i am not wowed though. sorry. Then what the hell are you doing on a climber's forum?

Christ you dudes need to come off of it. Submission's like Dave's are THE REASON why most of us check in on this site.

You guys are out in the weeds with your soliloquies on how to live life in this thread - I'm one million times more interested in what the OP has offered here than your pedantic and rusted condescension.

You all can post your perspectives in any number of threads, and I know they have value, but don't piss on the OP who is giving us desk monkeys exactly what we want in the form of this thread. Your wet toweling could dissuade him from posting next time!

It seems we've reached some sort of watershed when people get critisized for going out and climbing.

Well, I'm not there yet! Rad TR. I've been up there and gazed at the wall- friggen imposing. Nice work.

Norwegian you are the one who posted negative B.S. on this thread, I'm not going to sit here while you throw out unsubstantiated insults, so be prepared to take it if you are going to dish it out.

Also you may want to think about showing the readers some respect and put some capitalization in your sophomoric drivel.

Selflessness, haha. Aren't you the one who posted about poor you and your responsibilities?

Jealousy is an ugly emotion.

Nordie, That's great and I applaud you for being you. But when you step over the line onto someone's toes being called on it is part of the process.

Wow.

Dave's "steadfast dedication to the dirtbag lifestyle" has him trained professionally to work on windmills among other things to make money. He's an honest guy, a great climber AND a hard worker.

You imagine that peoples lives are only what they write on the internet. How about the fact that some peoples lives are so great that people all over the world turn to look and see, but they still have the other part of life that keeps them on their own two feet. Not that it is like that for everyone.

How about Holly? Climbs el cap more than about anyone every year, travels the world and RUNS HER OWN BUSINESS. Things are not always as they seem.

Slightly OT here, but Dave is a hell of a nice guy-- took the time to give me a very detailed answer to some of my questions about Patagonia, very nice, encouraging and insightful. I look forward to his TRs and updates.

Thanks Dave.
