Hey,

The Boulderama Extravaganza you're planning sounds pretty cool. Fritz and I are coming, I hope. Right now I've got more important things to talk about. We're just about ready to publish the Bozeman rock climbing guide...

Okay, I paused to give you time to laugh, but I think it's really gonna happen. We need photos of you guys doing what you do best--posing on your favorite routes. Contact me if you've got something you want to share. It's guaranteed to make you famous!

Thanks,

The possibility of a midsummer break has become intriguing. Where is the event taking place, or least near to where?

I promise not to bring any wolves.

Now, if someone could just explain the reference to dental floss...

MH, I am guessing on this one, but I believe the reference to be from a Zappa tune "Moving To Montana" in which dental floss is mentioned. Not being a Frank fanatic, I am not positive of this.

Check upthread for the dates, but I think the 3rd week of June is pretty accurate. The place is in between Butte and Whitehall, MT; but only as a center for gathering. Climbing-wise, there are many options, depending on your particular interest; and you WILL leave satisfied. E-mail me or TKingsbury if you want specifics, or have a question in mind. Us Montuckans take care of guests who go out of their way to visit us.

I might be movin' to Montana soon
Just to raise me up a crop of
Dental Floss

Raisin' it up
Waxen it down
In a little white box
That I can sell uptown

By myself I wouldn't
Have no boss,
But I'd be raisin' my lonely
Dental Floss

Raisin' my lonely
Dental Floss

Well I just might grow me some bees
But I'd leave the sweet stuff
To somebody else . . . but then, on the other hand I would

Keep the wax
'N melt it down
Pluck some Floss
'N swish it aroun'

I'd have me a crop
An' it'd be on top (that's why I'm movin' to Montana)

Movin' to Montana soon
Gonna be a Dental Floss tycoon (yes I am)
Movin' to Montana soon
Gonna be a mennil-toss flykune

I'm pluckin' the ol'
Dennil Floss
That's growin' on the prairie
Pluckin' the floss!
I plucked all day an' all nite an' all
Afternoon . . .

I'm ridin' a small tiny hoss
His name is MIGHTY LITTLE
He's a good hoss
Even though
He's a bit dinky to strap a big saddle or
Blanket on anyway
He's a bit dinky to strap a big saddle or
Blanket on anyway
Any way

I'm pluckin' the ol'
Dennil Floss
Even if you think it is a little silly, folks
I don't care if you think it's silly, folks
I don't care if you think it's silly, folks

I'm gonna find me a horse
Just about this big,
An' ride him all along the border line

With a
Pair of heavy-duty
Zircon-encrusted tweezers in my hand
Every other wrangler would say
I was mighty grand

By myself I wouldn't
Have no boss,
But I'd be raisin' my lonely
Dental Floss

Raisin' my lonely
Dental Floss
Raisin' my lonely
Dental Floss

Well I might
Ride along the border
With my tweezers gleamin'
In the moon-lighty night

And then I'd
Get a cuppa cawfee
'N give my foot a push . . .
Just me 'n the pygmy pony
Over by the Dennil Floss Bush

'N then I might just
Jump back on
An' ride
Like a cowboy
Into the dawn to Montana

Tom-

Ok, I believe the guidebook is coming out. The good news is I put $15.00 in a long term CD 4 years ago for the purchase of the guide. Now with inflation I think I can make money on the deal.

You KNOW this GB! heheh...it'd be a bit like that game where you see how many people you can cram into a phoneboth...

I actually have a lead on a pretty big tepee, and hopefully we can get some sort of large tarp shelter going...I'm not planning on rain though...just mainly for shade and fun.

If it *did* rain, we could always play around in the huge friggin quarried out cave...
Rumor has it that a route has recently gone in here...not sure on the details though...

Thanks for the info - I found Butte & Whitehall on the map. Only a (long) day's drive from here. I'm a definite maybe at the moment, and probably won't know until late May or early June if I can make it.

Thought I'd give a bump and give some updates...

Tax season is now over so I can concentrate on more important concerns, such as the Bash, and catching up on the massive SFHD thread...

So AWhit, a fellow batholither and poster on ST, ended up moving down to UT. Before he left(a few weeks back) he imparted his knowledge of the Bourbon Boulders via a extensive tour with the GPS and camera. It was a bit snowy still up near the continental divide, so we only mapped the front areas, though it ended up around 115 mapped problems on 70-80 boulders...

Here is an overview the area in general, showing some main crags and updating the newly mapped stuff, just to give you a bit of an idea...
Feel free to let me know if you're interested in exploring this Google Earth, I'll try to pass it along...

Here are some recent shots:

Mojede has also been out exploring new terrain, here are a couple:

I wanna traverse this...

The Bash begins in less than 2 months...I'm getting pretty psyched...hope y'all are too.

Cheers!

Tom

EDIT: anyone notice Dom's stellar foot technique in that photo Mojede posted upthread? LOL

Tom, that March 24 post, second from the bottom, did you steal that from a Stolby site?
