Bobby,s father and I go back along way -(on his trips to England in the late summer and fall).
I want to say that Bobby junior and I share a hero in Wilfred Thesiger an English Explorer who explored the Danakil Country and the Awash River in Ethiopia and crossed the The Empty Quarter in Oman in 46--- Thesiger signed his book "The life of my choice" for me and I remember offering this to Bob Snr. for Bobby because I so wanted him to have it -but in his so modest way he declined because he knew it had been signed for me and wanted me to keep it .
I always remember standing with his father in a wild place with the wind blowin and the red grouse flyin like bullets and how quiet his father was and I asked him what was troubling him ? He said he was thinking about his son who was on a climbing trip When I asked him to which mountain? he told me that he was on the Trango Tower ! and then I knew that this guy was something extraordinarily special .
From that day onwards Bobby Jnr. was another great hero of mine ---this one tangible and, just like his father ,( my great and loyal friend Bob Model )-I am so proud of his achievements but watch with pride from afar.
Our prayers and positive thoughts are with you and your family right now and these are mirrored and magnified by the countless people who love you .
You have the strength -------Steve Mason (love from Anne and Sarah )

Bob Sr.,

Having been in somewhat the same boat 27 years ago, I would encourage you to think positively, keep your family close, and never stop believing that he will pull through this trial.

All of my family has your family in our foremost thoughts.

Bobby, Faith, Anne and Bob,
Many thoughts of skiing in Utah with the Models have been going through my mind. Coming in after a great day and having a hot chocolate with Faith and Bobby at the Rustler. I remember thinking "I wish I could ski as well as Bobby and Faith".
We are so far apart right now but know many prayers were sent from Saint Paul's Church in Leavenworth, Kansas this morning to heal the physical and mental pain of these very long past few days you have endured.
Bobby, we need you to get through this, back on your feet with camera in hand. The images you capture with your camera are important to all of us who can travel and those who cannot to see the beauty in the world.

With love to all of you and the wonderful medical professionals taking care of Bobby,

Bobby Update 6-15-2007

Dear All,

I hope this finds you all happy and healthy. I just
want to send a brief update on Bobby as I know it's
been a couple of days. But first and again, we are
ever ever grateful for your messages of comfort and
support and Bobby IS getting all of them, even if we
can't respond personally to let you know. His vitals
always seem to steady--as if to listen--when any of us
give him messages, news or even a little gossip :). So
thank you thank you from all of us.

Bobby's face is now completely free of tubes and he
looks prettttty good, considering. He's tolerating his
food (he has a tube in his stomach) and is breathing
on his own with occasional assistance. His lung
infection has also cleared for the most part.

The ICU staff have become like a small family to us
and have been and continue to be outstanding in every
way.

Sending love and thanks always from all of us,
especially Bobby.

Faith
ps: i can't get most of the addresses on this, so
please continue to forward this on. Many thanks!

This is great news. Good vibes coming from the Midwest from people he has never even met - that is, hasn't met yet.

Best to Bobby and his family - I had the good fortune to have Bobby as a housemate for a couple of years. He was always very helpful and polite. Even though he was frequently off climbing mountains like Everest, he never once complained about meager tasks like mowing the lawn when he was around even though I am sure he had more important things he could be doing.

What a really great guy and a nice family. I can say there was never a dull moment with him around. I hope nothing but the best for his recovery. He still has a lot of great things to do and people's lives to touch :).

Sending more prayers, strength and love from Idaho. I hiked Mt. Baldy (Sun Valley) yesterday and from the top sent my prayers and strength to Bobby and all of you who sit at his bedside. I wanted to scream it out at the top of my lungs, but that probably would have really disturbed anyone else who was trying to enjoy God's wonderful wilderness. Positivity will perservere.

Anne and Jim, Bob and Mona,

We do not know Bobby and Faith personally but as parents we know that this is one of the most difficult times we face; our children are hurting and it is beyond our control to help or heal the hurt. God bless you all and we send very positive thoughts and prayers to you.

Another pic of Bomo, taken this January in his apartment in Cody. What the picture does not show is that Bobby, the rough and tumble/live life to the fullest/camping for days on end without a shower adventurer, is perhaps the most anally neat person on the planet. Nothing in his spotless apartment is out of place. And it's not the "sweep the dirt under the rug" kind of superficial neatness. Open any drawer or cabinet, and the contents are in perfect order, ready for inspection. Everything is organized, labeled, filed, and stacked with incredible precision.
