Honest to pete Roy, you must have the better part of my vintage collection socked away in your Photobucket!

Anders, I'm glad to hear that this is entertaining for the unacquainted too, one does worry about being an online boor.

Kinda looks like a slim down version of Richard Simmons.

"Dancing Queen" is actually the tune that springs to mind, though his well practiced coy rendition of The Macarena in Weschrist's video slays me every time.

That's right Mr White,
When duty calls, timing being everything, no stoop is too low for Tarbousier.
I've been steadily mining the Mussy Nebula for your pearls.

-Back to you BVB; where's a shot of those wing tips in act-shun, be it before, during, or apres climb?

There is something very disturbing about this photo.

What's with the kneecaps?

No hips and socks that are thicker than his thighs.

This is the way a real man is supposed to look in lycra!

Okay Tarbaby, you've pushed me to scan a little new material...

Here's our hero following on the first ascent of Sympathy at Mission Gorge, way back before someone added bolts to it. I think that two inch tied swami merits a few points.

and the team on the big ledge on Lunar Leap, after the big bottle of wine

Awesome!!!

OFF White:
I'm so glad my rampant & uncredited indiscretion with your fab photo collection has spurned you to dig deeper into the treasure trove.

Cuz, Ya Know...

I thought this terrific thread was, well ...DUST, FINITO, KAPUT.

"...and the team on the big ledge on Lunar Leap, after the big bottle of wine..."

I gotta tell ya--you boyz are lookin' mighty fine up there in your bandanas and ponytails and painters pants and youthful damn good looks...

And then...look what happens after his life of wild dis-si-paaaaaation: bvb strung out in the dirt with some old bones. A smile still on his face. What a great life!!!

(Was this before or after the Wild Turkeyfest?)

Bump for a great thread!

(with apologies to mark strand........)

tarbaby, as we all know...

seasons come, and pass; there will always be cooking and cleaning to do; one thing leads to another, which leads to another; we live between two great darks, the first with an ending, the second without one, and the luckiest thing is having been born; we discovered the rocks, and each other, together; we live in a blur of hours and days, months and years, and believe it has meaning, despite the occasional fear we are slipping away with nothing completed, nothing to prove we existed. our search goes on for something we lost--a name, a family album that fell from its own small matter into another, a piece of the dark that might have been ours, we don't really know. say that each of us tries to keep busy, learning to lean down close and hear the careless breathing of earth and feel its available languor come over us, wave after wave, sending small tremors of stone through our brief, undeniable selves, into our memories, and beyond.

i love you guys. the beev abides.

BVB...you have two beautiful children and a beautiful wife. That alone has made your life one worth living and a life with meaning.

I wake up every day and feel bless to have my wife and children.

Climbing has added to my already wonderful life. Looks like the same for you.

Alright - here goes:

These pictures are flat-out incredible.

The shot of Watusi, BVB and Doug White is it, that's the one.

These guys were the established scene in San Diego in 1975 - while guys like Cameron and Piggot were just fables.

Awesome shots. Many many thanks for this post.
