. I am all for more cooperation with Russia.

I am too as my son travels there regularly.

The core issue is "cooperation" vs being "annexed".

Russia opposes our problem child Isis along with our proxy wars in various countries. Russia's presence in said proxy wars threatens our MIC that relies on chaos and death as a source of profits

Hence the anti Russia propaganda so present in US media

How about a fresh violation of the emoluments clause of the constitution?

“There can be no question that it is a terrible idea for Donald Trump to be accepting the registration of these valuable property rights from China while he’s a sitting president of the United States,” said Norman Eisen, who served as chief White House ethics lawyer for President Barack Obama. “It’s fair to conclude that this is an effort to influence Mr. Trump that is relatively inexpensive for the Chinese, potentially very valuable to him, but it could be very costly for the United States.”

Richard Painter, chief White House ethics lawyer under President George W. Bush, called the situation “highly improper.” Since foreign governments know Trump cares deeply about his family’s business, Painter said, “they will give him what he wants and they will expect stuff in return.”

Why is it such a bad idea to be allies with Russia.

Let me count the ways...

Well, in 1914 the French for one sure found out what a bad idea it was to honor a treaty with Mother Russia. That's what plunged the world into WWI. Those Pan-Slavic alliances can be nasty little mouse traps.

Another perspective:

Trump's supporters are for a part the "Hillary deplorables", people that the self-sufficient American meritocracy has left behind playing their money-, power- and network-games. People feeling left behind did not want more of the same, did not see repetition as an answer, made a wild guess and voted for the current mess of a president.

The democrats must take a close look at their own values-in-praxis and actions. More of the same is no answer even if the current president and his advisors end up far away from the presidency in their self-made hell.

To be clear, they are not deplorables. Hillary said that half of Trump's supporters were deplorables because they were attracted to his racism, misogyny, Islamophobia, etc. I have no idea whether half of his voters are truly deplorable, but a lot are. He got the KKK vote.

Good points Marlow. A lot of soul searching is in order for the whole country.
More of the same may not be a sufficient answer.

Hillary might not have been a viable pick for our future as a nation.

But it sure as f*#k isn't Donald J Dickweed.

It's all good and going according to the plan.

"What the judges did was to take power for themselves that belongs squarely in the hands of the president of the United States.”

"...as we begin to take further actions it will be shown in the end that the powers of the president to protect our country are very substantial and will not be questioned."

~ Steve Miller, Trump aide

"The Imperial Senate will no longer be of any concern to us. I have just received word that the Emperor has dissolved the council permanently. The last remnants of the Old Republic have been swept away."
~ Grand Moff Wilhuff Tarkin

I can't see how anyone could call Trump a good president when he is such a poor manager.
The White House these days appears very incompetent if you consider how much confusion has occurred in the last few weeks.
What would happen if a REAL crisis happened?
I think they would fall apart and do the wrong thing.

It may turn out to be a good thing that Trump is a poor manager.

Let's imagine how much more damage he could do if he could get his act together.

Or maybe let's not.

Exactly my thoughts, I would rather lurch from one chaotic episode to another for four years rather than have him quit and let Pence do real harm.

So the Vlad dude on another thread was right,Trump is in Russian hands. Putin has his hand on the White House, but Flynn is out. The house of Trump cards will fall. Is that called a Trump suit, suite? One king, one queen and the rest of the hand are jokers.

Let's temporarily call it the Whore House while Sir Donald is in charge.

I am bitter, not at you Jody, or the other Supertopians who think Trump is great, I am bitter because America deserves better than what is there. Yes, I live abroad, but I am still an American. I love the US, I just stay in Ireland in the hope that... in a vainless hope that Jennie's illness...

that...

I cannot explain it, but I do cry at night. I had a crazy dream last night that I was leading Butterballs (I love the Cookie area) and I fell, and kept falling, and Jennie saved me. Am I one sick dude or what?

EDIT

I am also bitter at the social worker and the HSE who I fought. I cannot help but wonder, do they care about the person or care about their job? I tried my best (perhaps not) and I failed.
