I get to feeling that way sometimes too Riley. But I thought the last few days were pretty decent conversations.
me.. I had a decent winter. I started to think/hope that I had reached a turning point with my health. I joined a gym and started working out. I felt pretty good. Then about 3 months ago the old problems started flaring up again and now I can barely walk. ugh..

There really is a very serious disconnect between the talkers of the world and the doers of the world. I've seen it a lot in hospitals. Talk talk talk ..
everything runs on good intentions and happiness and people just need a hug.
So tell me Riley, do you lean over the gurney of critically injured patient and say "geez, sorry, reality is that you are a goner in maybe 2 hours or less" or do you indicate that everything possible will be done to save you? Hope and faith are very powerful. It got me through the dregs of treatment of a life limiting illness. My doctors were honest, but man were they forward looking about what we might do next. Their hope and expertise saved me.
Reality is this exact moment in time, its not the future, its not the past. To cave into the belief that future "reality" can't be shaped, made better, "a thousand points of light", is a sorry state of not being a doer. I can't believe when you receive a critically injured patient you just throw your hands up in frustration that they can't be saved and walk away. If you are as sour as you are coming across I have to say I would not want to be rolled into your trauma center.
Sometimes, yes it is a REALITY, too, that good intentions, faith, hard work and belief in a better future will give the hope to someone that a difference can be made.

Radical (Riley?) really is nailing it. The story about your father in law is telling. Kids today have so many shoes. You really understand what poverty is when you have that kind of relationship with someone from a place like that. It is really a fact that many liberals are too wealthy to relate to ordinary people.
I work in science and don't understand why such a large number of people believe the global warming myths. Everyone in my field knows that every climate scientist is just trying to keep their funding. I feel bad that they have to get behind a movie produced by Al Gore just to keep their occupation. Yet, why might anybody accept what they say?
