It's here right in Boulder, few minute ride from nature's front door.

I have never really biked before so I had a grand time going over the baby jumps. Literally, labelled for children. And getting scared.

Thanks for the recipe link Aya! We will give it a try.

I'm feeling cocky today, so tonight is beer night. Lucky beer is vegan. The talk of Negro Modelo got to me....

I just finished the Subway diet. Tuna sub gave me food poisoning. Lost 5lbs in 24hrs hugging the comode. Went from 178.5 to 173.5 (just below my fighting weight) where I've been holding steady for just over a week. Tried everything before that, but could hardly shed a pound.

Subway diet seems like a sure way to send the proj.
Weighted in at 174 yesterday, before a mostly cardio climbing (30 mins of climbing v0-2/3 boulder problems up and down without stopping)/stairmaster (hour) gym day.
Not an intense day, because I was still sore from Tuesday's bouldering/hangboard/weighted pull ups. Plan is to rest today and have an intense bouldering/hangboard session tomorrow after work. Than ski for two days giving the forearms/back/core some rest.

Before going to sleep I was hungry as an ox so I ate several cucumbers/other veggies.

The India diet is the one you want. A sip of water and yer good to go (unless you die). And it's one thing to hug a commode in these parts. Try working with a squatter. I think I lost about 18 pounds on that trip. A bought of something in Thailand almost killed me. Without pounding massive water I probably would have overheated to death. The guy in the Thai restaurant at the top of the hill on east Railay handed me a hand full of pills and told me take them and take a nap in the corner. It knocked me out and I woke up feeling not dead.

Though the other thing about India/Thailand is their portions are smaller. Us fat bloated americans will double size an already too large of a meal.

Just got done with an hour and a half of flying the Cessna on only a cup of coffee. Looking forward to this weigh in.

It's thursday so it's Thursday Night Cruiser Ride. I'm making coin margs instead of drinking beer.

HAPPY THURSDAY! LET'S RIDE!!!

Down 5! (okay, 4.8 but who's counting)

Yesterday I was lightheaded a few times when standing, but a strange thing happened. My hunger has vanished, replaced by a sort of euphoria.

SOOO I'm not sure that's all that healthy. Going to eat more today, and especially tomorrow morning before I head out with my Silent Partner (I'm gonna die) and Microtrax to get in some laps.

I think it's going to be warm enough to get in a road bike cruise today. Our trails are still mud and snow, but I need a break from indoor stationary exercise.

No booze in 4.3 days - now every climb is rattly fingers, rattly hands- even 5.6 gym jugs.

I weighed in on Aya's scale but have been using mine for the last few days. I think they are about 5lbs off. mine shows me down 9lbs but it's probably more like 4lbs. That's a lot for a few days but i suspect it's just less water due to eating foods that are less inflammatory like beer.

Slow and controlled weight loss with "Lifestyle changes" in your daily diet is key to losing and keeping it off...

I do agree with this. Well, that and looking at what you eat and how it plays with your microbiome, food tolerances, and genetics.

And for me, hormones? Aging? I spend my 20s as a "chunky" climber, at least compared to the Rifle crowd. Didn't matter how few calories I took in or how much I exercised, I couldn't lose weight.

After I turned 30 (and especially after I had my daughter), that changed. I'm 15# down from what I weighed back then, a slow consistent drop over the years.

I didn't think I'd be able to do more than 5# for the challenge until I saw I was up 4 and figured it was at least partially water from a bunch of salty meals.

Not part of the challenge but

I'm down ~8lbs in the past month.
Portion control, eliminating a few guilty pleasures, and jump starting my metabolism with daily short HIIT body weight only workouts.
12lbs to go.

Good luck peeps

This is very true. Dad is wise. After awhile in India I got use to the smaller portions and never really found myself hungry. At this point I've probably lost a pound of blubber and the rest water. Maybe two pounds but I'm adding it back on with a little muscle tone.

The hard part is maintaining it. I've been focused on my diet my entire adult life and still realize I find myself going down a dead end at times. So I don't look at challenges like these as a quick fix but rather a reminder of what I want to be.

Though to be fair to myself a bad food day for me is a good food day for 90%+ of americans. 30 years ago I gave up red meat. 27 years ago I gave up birds. That was about the same time the first organic (labeled) foods showed up in the Arcata Co-Op (f'ing hippy!). About 25 years ago i went strict vegan for two and a half years. I added fish only back in at that time. about 10 years ago i started eating eggs again but have since stopped about six months ago.

I've also cut back on tofu because of moob growth.

so on a bad day it's greasy fries and not a lot of fruits and veggies. This challenge made me fill my fridge with lots of veggies. So that's what I'm eating. Hard to get fat and bloated on grazing.

See it and hear about it very often...

Too many are in a hurry...

Ha ha. That requires consistent discipline, which I don't have.

made it to the base of the Rainbow Wall in 1:10 compared to a year and a half ago it taking us about 2 hrs

Yeah, I heard people bitching about the approach to rainbow wall, making it sound like some full day epic. Don't remember it taking long at all.

So nature and all, what do YOU guys do for your meals/snacks? Sharing is caring, would love to diversify my meals. Which can be summarized bu boring mixed with coffee.

here's a 630 calorie meal for you.

I take a tablespoon of coconut oil in an iron skillet and cook up a half cup organic yellow onion. I toss in a can of organic black beans and cook it down so it's sorta thick. Pinch of salt or more. Pile a couple cups of organic spinach on a plate and pour the hot beans over them. Top that with a medium sized avocado and a fair amount of OG salsa. I might toss on a slice of Chao vegan cheese and that'll add another 60 calories. and if you do not know about this cheese and want to be vegan you have to try it. It'll make a vegan grilled cheese sammich that nobody could tell is vegan unless you told them. it gets all gooey and stringy like real cheese. One reason for that is they culture like cheese (rather than manufacturing it with other vegan cheeses that turn to cardboard when heated).

I'm big on OG foods but there are a few were it doesn't matter like avocados.

For snacks i've been soaking raw almonds and nibbling on them.

OG = Original Gangster foods? :)

Nuts and avocados have a lot of calories. My meals are likely no more than 2-300 calories.

For example my lunch was a plate of veggies with a bit of chicken breast.

Breakfast was a single pack of oatmeal with a bit of almond milk and 4-5 scallops as my protein.

The dinner will likely be something more exciting. Like a salad? Don't forget I am trying to lose about 15 lbs, which is kind of a lot in a month. 10 a month is 1 lb in about 3 days. I guess 2.5 lbs a week is not that unhealthy. If I do 3lbs/week, I will be psyched. Will be difficult to sustain weight loss and energy while climbing/training. Not too bad though so far and a month is not all that long. After it ends, planning to maintain the weight though.

Good, you all are on the program. Glad you didn't wait for me.... I wouldn't have gone in. Got on the home scale today just a few pounds up from my "fat weight" so < 5 away from the target. Considering I ate like a pig in Phoenix complete with a commutes box of candy from Vegas to Pheonix and another from Phoenix to JT I think I'm okay.

BioDomes are kicking it out and some lean protein already defrosted. I may not be in, but I'm inspired.

Me, too Susan. :) Inspired.
I have been on the Paleo-Auto-immune diet for three months now:
Have brought my blood numbers all back to within normal range after being 'way above anything like normal.
Have lost 12 pounds, without really noticing it leaving. Feel stronger and healthier than in a long time, in spite of a recent several-day sleepover with the nurses and docs for an adhesion.

I'm working to get my foods and sleep and spirit and life as healthy as I possibly can. Taking the best care I can of my body since I need it for more adventures. I have another 30-40 years of playing I want to do before I sit down to write my memoirs. :)

I am going to check back in after 30 days. By then, I'll have my next round of test scores back. I am totally confounding most of the mainstream MDs around here. Again. And the nurses: "You CAN'T have a resting pulse of 58 at your age! And your blood pressure is almost low!"

This is such a great idea. I don't want to lose 10 more pounds either, maybe 7. But I'll be cheering for us all. :)

Back to reading W. H. Murray's last book. That guy had exquisite sang froid and a delightful sense of humor as well.

Good Luck to us all!
