yep, had ye' ol' fledermaus was down there in the dance room,
opera'ting some smooth moves, and having a 'ball' one night, :O
oh my... took a bit, 'til i felt good to get back down there, :))
got to make it a point to use the room more now... :)

The almond trees in back of the cemetery are quite young. In looking for this place on a Doppler Radar Map it is brown, just planted with almond slips.
The pioneers had no such views. It was plains, plains, and more plains planted with wheat and barley.
This is some of the richest soil in the San Joaquin, so it's no wonder folks settled here in Plainsburg. That town's population was probably larger than Merced's once.
The Santa Fe RR came through in about 1896, I think, and the folks drifted over thataway four miles and settled in Le Grand, where there is a depot still, but it's derelict.Our friend Gene is quite good at naming the year in which a particular building was erected, based on certain features common to the era--the shape of the windows, the age of the glass (it runs and gets warped), and the size of eaves, for example.
This was a very educational trip for me.
