I might just have to roll up for dinner and a conversation. Usually don't camp in the city itself, but would be happy to share a rope with ya'll.

Wayno! Per Donini's mention in the previous post!
Wayno is a chef, get him involved with food.
How can you refuse a request from someone with Italian roots?
We will be glad to assist, and collect cash to help with your gourmet endeavors!

More COR climbing content.
I think this is Scar Tissue at the Office but I wouldn't swear to it. If so, it's from that same trip with Clint and Nancy, and Clint would have lead it. I'm sure I hung on it at some point.

I would love to do food. I will post some ideas as they come to me and encourage people to make suggestions. The only thing I would say is that in the end, I will decide what I will do and if you have diet restrictions or don't like what I do then please do your own stuff and shut up. I am really sorry if this sounds dickish but I have been getting a little wore out these days with special requests. I like meat, fat, gluten and salt. Vegetables are wonderful too. Actually, I like it all, as long as it tastes good and is in balance. I'm going to shut up now and go back to my wine, this is my cranky Friday night.

Meat, fat, gluten, and salt!
Takes me back to my childhood in central Idontno, except we mostly ate the state vegetable, potatoes, for our starches.
My mother's mother homesteaded near City of Rocks in the early 1900's. In her older years she proudly told me she had eaten potatoes every day of her adult life.
They finally killed her by: "cumulative potato poisoning."
Yep!
She died of liver cancer at age 97.

I thought that all Idaho comfort food had it's beginning on the side of the road. Back from P and ready for COR after some climbing at IC, BC and YV.

DONINI!
Welcome back to the end of winter. Darn nice in SLC today with highs in the mid-50's.
We will try to get COR all tidy for your arrival!

Here is what I have thought so far about food and COR. Three morning meals (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday), and four dinners (Monday-Thursday). People will be out recreating during the day and can forage for lunch.
I can do Biscuits and Gravy and homefries and eggs without too much trouble every morning and maybe throw in some from-scratch corn-beef hash. If you like fruit and oatmeal, then you know what.
I will do my now-infamous Carne Asada on one night and probably a pasta feed for another. I was thinking maybe Ribs and tater-salad for another. Mex is always easy while camping, so that might be a fourth. I can do a Pollo Verde and rice burrito thing that seems to always satisfy or I will even entertain some suggestions at this point.
Anyone that wants to help in any way will be encouraged. I cook and I don't want to clean , although that is an important part of the logistics.
I love doing this stuff but I still want to have some time to goof around and go climbing, so I am trying to keep it simple but wholesome. Fun and fed is the bottom line.
Let's do this thing.
If anyone else wants to plan a meal or two along some other lines, then by all means pony up. I will offer my skills and knowledge if they are needed to help. I don't want to take over "the food" but I just want to offer my services and love for what I think of as good grub.

I can provide my big 2 burner propane camp stove w/ 5 gal cylinder. Thoughts regarding coffee preparation? I normally use a French Press for mine, but it only makes 3 cups...not enough. I do have a huge coffee pot/teakettle which could be a source of hot water for all...
Wine for the evening meals should be no problem, either...

Bring your gameface troops, we're going BIG....in a relative sense, that is.
Well, at the very least we'll eat well.....nothing wrong with that.

Wayno: Sounds great. I will confess that previous COR campouts have been cold breakfast camps, except for hot fluids. I'm not certain how many takers you will find for hot breakfasts among us geriatrics.
Heidi & I will be glad to help with dinners. You mention ribs? Pork or beef? We have a local source of kosher pork riblets that we pre-roast, then reheat for a camping treat, so we could contribute some of those. We roast them up sooooo-dry, they are crunchy.
For Mex night, we will help out with Tamales, and Heidi's Fiesta (fart-esta) salad is always a hit.
We will also contribute some tables and our small two-burner propane stove.
We have another attendee for the Twin Sisters Group Camp for the nights of June 23-26, with checkout on June 27.
Attendees for sure:
Fritz & Heidi
Donini & Angela
Ralph T(AK Trad) & friend
Brokedownclimber
Spider Savage & brother
Anonymous attendee # 1 that emailed me.
Kim & Pete
Anonymous attendee #2 that emailed me
phylp
Woodythebeaver
Yeti
Plaidman & Adventure Queen
maybe a certain Cor guidebook cover girl?
Hossjulia
Anonymous attendee #3 & 4 that emailed me.
Anonymous attendee #5 that Brokedown climber emailed me.
ImStein
lumineferusother
Wayno, Marsha, & fine Italian wine
Gregory Crouch
=28 people
Possible attendees list.
Captain or Skully
paganmonkeyboy
Labrat=maybe—let us know?
Apolobamba--based on arrival?
If you would like to camp, or visit at the Group Camp: we do ask attendees to leave their pets and their small children at home, both for the safety of the small children & pets, and also to maintain a harmonious environment for all attendees.
Reserve America Website:
This link takes you to their website, which is the best way to book campsites. Type in: City of Rocks National Reserve Idaho.
http://www.reserveamerica.com/unifSearchResults.do?topTabIndex=Search
Currently City of Rocks camps are about 2/3 full for the nights of June 23-26 and the nearby Smoky Mountain deluxe with showers campsite near Almo & Castle Rock State Park is mostly available. They will fill up!
Campsites 1-4 in camp area 2 are adjacent to our Twin Sisters Group camp and share our deluxe shitter. 2 of those 4 camps are available for the dates we have the Twin Sisters group camp.
Brokedown mentioned early on that water is not available out at Twin Sisters, and there is also not garbage pickup. No problem, since both are available at the main climbing areas a couple miles away. The water at Bath Rock is not great, but just up the hill by the Breadloaves is another pump with very, very tasty water.
Namaste
