I wonder if the Robertson family
cared that when the A&E TV executives approached them
with the concept for the show they obviously wanted it to be a case
of people laughing at a bunch of backward rednecks? Maybe.
But when it didn’t turn out like that and people actually
started identifying with the way the family behaved and
were laughing with them, not at them, A&E became uncomfortable.
The delicate sensitivities of some glass tower gay New York
TV types got rattled.
And being out of touch with main stream America they did
exactly the wrong thing.
But did they conspire with GQ magazine to quote Phil on his religious
believes and create a public reason and excuse to jettison him from the
show? Does it matter?
While A&E execs still refuse to comment on being "shocked shocked" about
the vast backlash at Phil Roberson's suspension.
Shell-shocked is probably more like it as they sulk behind a hastily
assembled army of security guards protecting their New York headquarters.
A&E Network are now the bad guys for appearing to be intolerant of the diverse opinions that they counted on to create a unique reality show and
for pissing off millions of duck fans.

I loved that show. Saw the first two seasons. If you compared them with the average Supertopo arguer, they are fairly nice people who just love themselves. Nothin' wrong with that, and hilarious to watch. Like bonobos.
Like Honey Boo Boo. They do stuff together as a family. If they stopped feeding their kids mountain dew I thik I'd have no issues with 'em.

Hypothetical of course-
you meet a man that doesn't drink, or do any drugs. He also doesn't swear. Along with a large family with many grandkids he tries to teach them how he grew up in the swamps (hunting, fishing and respect for all).
He happens to be religious and is proud to preach the gospel and speak his thoughts. He has sinned much and wants the rest of the world to respect one another and believe in the lord.
This man loves everyone but has a faith. Even those that break his ideology, he respects and hopes to talk about his view with others.
what say you?
