Ron is a registered independent, but he's far from being independent.

Then you in essence reward poor performance and the joke is on you.

The joke is on all of us as long as we have a two party system. But I would still rather have Obama then Romney.. which is the choice that we currently have.

if your choice of food is either meatloaf or pig sh#t, then you eat meatloaf even if you don't' like meat loaf. I guess you are saying that we should starve. The problem is that in this situation we wouldn't starve, we would be force fed the pig sh#t.

the joke is then on you.

ok, here's a question: we all seem to agree that the 2 party system is failing. how do you/ we/ us/ the US break that mold and get another option. I dont think anyone would disagree that it's basically a choice between the lesser of the two evils; I personally find Obama/ Romney to simply be different sides of the same coin. How can we as a country get away from this? Is it even possible?

Is it even possible?

I would say that at this point in our human development. No. Because for some reason the greediest most avaricious people seem to be the ones most likely to want power and most willing to go after it, and thus they control most things.

Has anyone forwarded this thread to Chairman Bernanke?

I'm sure he would be intrested in the opinions on global monetary policy from a squirrel ass packer and the rest of you shut ins.

Ron, I agree with you that if everyone just really went for it and voted for the '3rd kind' or ron paul or whatever that it could seriously shake things up (potentially anyway); but I also hear what you're saying JohnM about people being greedy.
I really think that term limits for congress/ senate would go a very long way. That and if you're a megalomanic or intentionally go searching for power/ political seat then that should also be a red flag- what about some kind of system where people were nominated to run instead of gathering enough money to run?
How/ why has it become a money race about elections? Doesn't that very same system feed all the iniquitous sh#t that we're here bitching about?

Bernanke is a wanker. Anyone out of high school can figure that if you print more and more play monopoly money that it'll be worth less and less.

Mr Supreme, inflation is projected to be 2% this year. Despite the gnashing
of many ignorant teeth his quantitative easing has apparently not put us on
a road to give Argentina a run for their money*. And in case you were out
behind the school sparking one up the day monetary policy was discussed a little
inflation is far more desirable than the opposite - go ask the Japanese.

*sorry, I couldn't help myself

Making the US dollar worth less compared to other competitive markets is good for US exports which is good for retail sales, manufacturing, and stocks which helps the economy grow and that keeps inflation in check.
Do you guys know more about the economy then Big Ben? I think knot.

reilly, shoots. I guess I was indeed sparking one up in the parking lot on that day.... (sigh) o the good ol days..
But no, you're right, it's not as bad as it could be, but I guess I'm worried by it because it doesn't seem to be a real solution, in and of itself; just a temporary quick fix.

But seriously, sparking one up before school was the sh#t right?!!?! Those days have certainly come and gone, but they were certainly fun while it lasted. Kinda like the credit boom now that I think of it actually.

Looks like a bear stock market next year and possible recession, no matter who is president or whatever Bernanke does. DJIA is approaching all time highs, with shaky turbulence. Current October earnings reports will be a good indicator.

So, 14 years to recover from the GD and you say we are only 3-4 years into what some are terming the great recession (GR) ... uhm!

Sorry to say so children, but it is much broader than that. This country has been in an insidious process of slow decline for the past half century. And everywhere we look, here on ST for instance, we seem to find the forces of polarization and dissolution gnawing at our social fabric.

Yeats' fateful line about the center not holding suddenly seems prophetic, eh?

The Second Coming ~ William Butler Yeats (1865-1939)

Turning and turning in the widening gyre
The falcon cannot hear the falconer;
Things fall apart; the center cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosened upon the world,
The blood-dimmed tide is loosened, and everywhere
The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
The best lack all conviction, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity.

Surely some revelation is at hand;
Surely some Second Coming is at hand.

...
...

Perhaps, BUT, there is one who will come first! And what is going on in the world at large is preparing for his entrance. He will seem to have an answer for all the worlds woes, including the growing "polarization and dissolution". One world economy, one world government, one world religion, one world leader (him). It will look oh so purdy...for a little while! Everyone will sign on with him, those who don't will not be able to buy, sell nor eat.

Things are setting up fast, open your eyes. Just take notice of the middle east. Prophecy is indeed unfolding right under our noses. Russia will seize an opportunistic moment and form an alliance with Iran (Persia) and an Arabic coalition. Iran will most likely block the Straights. It would only take a few downed/sunken tankers to block that narrow waterway. Throwing the world into further turmoil (no gas being exported). They will go to war against Israel. No worries though, war will not occur (not at that moment anyway, cuz Armegeddon will yet be around 7 yrs down the road), Iran & Russia, etal. will be annhilated at Israel's doorstep. NOBODY will come to Israel's defense, and not even Israel will seem to be able to defend itself. It will seem miraculous and indeed it will be.

Ya, I know, so don't even bother to respond with all the negative BS! All I'm saying is to pay close attention to how things unfold.

Regarding America, one thing is fairly certain; we will turn our back on Israel. Because like I said above, NOBODY will come to her aid during her "war" with Iran (although Russia will soon move to form a coalition with Iran/Persia, etal).

That will not be good for America, cuz; "I will bless those who bless you, and I will curse those who curse you." also applies to the good ol' USofA!

Just sayin' (open yer eyes)...

edit: Patrick Sawyer - thanx, my bad, i changed it to 1865!

Maybe all of you whiners should leave California.

I'm living pretty damn good and my net worth keeps climbing and climbing.

Crime is low where I live.

I have a nice home.

I'm no longer a Californian and my situation has never been better. My net worth has doubled in the past 4 years.

Yer looking at the world through sh#t-colored glasses.
