Anders,

Ed Cooper is going to do a presentation up here on October 20th. Still have to get the special use permit and other details. Right now, Facelift is priority.

Thanks for your patience everyone. Facelift camping has been wild this year... lots of returnees and tons of new folks. I think you're going to have another amazing event.

As for camping requests... all requests submitted from the beginning of time through August 8 have been assigned and responded to. If for some reason, you submitted a request pre-August 8 and haven't heard back, shoot me another email at: yosemitefaceliftcamping@hotmail.com

Thanks! I hope you're all enjoying the summer! And Anders... yes, I'm getting excited for Poland!

Yes to yoga practices even though I'll be over in Upper Pines. That would be fantastic.

May bring my bike, which means I'll need to get it working! :-)

It took me a few days in the depths of despair to accept the fact that I would not be going to COR with Cosmic in September. But then I realized that it frees me up to attend my very first ever Facelift.

I've made reservations outside the park and plan to take YARTS in for the daily events.
Since this is my first time at this rodeo, can someone tell me:

Should I bother to bring my climbing stuff? Does anybody sneak away from their dirt vacuuming duty to climb a few pitches?

I'l love to be on a trail repair/enhancement crew. Is their much of that going on? Should I bring my rock wall kit: pickaxe, short shovel, mallet?

Tatras are just wonderful! Enjoy!

Is there an extra letter in there?

Phyl: Yes, bring camping, climbing and hiking stuff. Prisoners are permitted 15 minutes of R&R every day. I don't know if any trail work is planned this year, but if so, you may not need any tools - the NPS has a large cache. No harm in being prepared, but may not be necessary.

Hell last year I brought every piece of gear I had just in case an opportunity came along. Will leave the wall gear at home this year though and just bring the traddie stuff. Now that I'm a "working man" again I can't just takes weeks off anymore :(

Speaking of free time, I have a personal project in mind for my "off time" - will need a hand from someone that is well versed with the East Ledges descent and the original EL route. Anyone interested?

So what about a SuperTopo BBQ at the FaceLift, as in past years? Say on the Saturday night, at Yeller Pines? (Ken willing, that is.) Is there interest? If so, a little organizing is needed, or more accurately organizers and BBQers. Hopefully his PhatNess will be there - it just wouldn't be the same without him.

Anyway, a MeatFest or equivalent won't happen on its own - the effort that Doug, Steve, Jeff, John and others have put into making it happen over the years is substantial.

Anders, I will be staying in my RV outside the park at Indian Flat campground, so I will have a full size refrigerator and half size freezer, if that would help with storage of meat products until Saturday night. We also keep a gas powered propane grill about 16" diameter in the RV. I won't have a car though so I'd need someone to help me ferry stuff (or lend me a car for an hour to get in and out).

I'm willing to bring something. Should we have a separate thread for bbq organization? Phyl

I'd second the Friday night suggestion. That way we don't have to choose between two awesome events.

Friday works for me. Happy to help with any grunt work... corn shuckin', grillin', etc.

I looked at the YCA website and FB site, but didn't see a schedule of events for Friday and Saturday. No doubt Ken is nailing down the details, and will have his usual flyer out soon. Once we know what the entertainment is each evening, that may help decide. Friday is fine with me, so is Saturday. Possibly more would be able to attend Saturday, as many who come for the weekend don't arrive until late Friday.

Friday night Alex Honnold will be doing a show. Saturday will be outdoor music ending at 9:00. Have a couple more details to work out and then I will post a schedule.

It's beginning to sound like Saturday is the night. IIRC, that usually also the night of the El Portal fall fair/hoedown, so they have the live music for the FaceLift which finishes early, and then half the people head down to EP.

CMac came to a sushifest at the FaceLift a few years ago, which was nice.

I've never been to the party in El Portal - but we should still think of those who do go. The last year or two I've usually been at the east auditorium pouring beer in the back until the end of the intermission, around 9:30, then go back to Camp 4 to issue tent and car passes to late arrivers. Certainly for Tuesday - Friday nights.

I will be doing the demo for Totem Cams again this year. They are also sending me with cams for raffle prizes. Super stoked to be there again for the Facelift. It is one of my favorite events EVER!!!!!

The Yosemite Facelift 2012 shirts are in process and looking pretty damn cool! And... no blatant corporate sponsorship this year! :)

And now for something completely different...

Hey Folks,

I am canceling my Facelift Trip. Bill can't make it and I am not going to attempt to pull it off with a baby and dog. Even though I can do it, some things are not necessary. I am sending you all my LOVE and yes... I want lots of pictures!

Hugs from all of us,
MommyStasia, LokiPup and BabyAris.
